LOOK: Marikina Filpino-Chinese Fire Brigade conducted a flushing operation along Marcos Highway, part of Barangay San Roque, Marikina City early in the morning to clean the oil that leaked from the accident sports car. | Facebook
Thoughts:
1) Looks like Marcos Highway near Sta Lucia Mall last night. I guess humahataw coz no traffic dahil ECQ?
2) That's gotta HURT! whatever speed he was doing to zero in no distance at all coz he crashed into the largely immovable poste. Serious seatbelt burns plus a punch in the face from the airbag.
3) Nice photo! Photoshop out the guys (and the damage to the boxster) and it's such an interesting shot with all sorts of lights at play. May DC5 pa in front of the 7-11 in the background.

^ iyan ba iyong tinatawag nilang "junction"? Bottleneck pa din ba jan? Matagal na din ako hindi napadpad jan ah.
do what you gotta do so you can do what you wanna do
Porsches have radiators, power steering and (not sure if all models) oil coolers up front.
That spilled "oil" is probably a mix of coolant, ATF, and possibly engine oil, but engine and gearbox itself should be relatively untouched at the back.
If the owner keeps it I think it should be fixable (although expensive). There's a shop in Japan that swapped a full 911 GT3 front-end onto a Cayman (basically everything front of the firewall changed to GT3).

yes. as far as i know they get to keep the car. as for their wishes i think they sell them for loss recovery as is or for parts as a lot. but in cases where nothing is salvageable i find it highly unlikely that they will spend more in order to restore what is a write off already.
Yes some that are a write off are fixed and resold.
i know someone who works with a local insurance company.
He buys the cars and he has a repair shop that fixed and then sells it for a much discounted rate.
You can usually ask him ano yung sira/banga. inaamin naman niya but these cars are already prone to future problems that may have been due to the accidents.
Yung officemate ko declared total loss yung kotse nya 10 months to car ownership. Nabangga harap at likod sa cavitex.
Insurance paid him and got the car.
About a year later, may tumatawag sa kanya. New owner daw ng kotse nya.
Sent from my MI MAX 2 using Tsikot Forums mobile app
Wala kasi tayong 'salvage' category sa car titles/registration natin, unlike on other countries where a car previously written off by insurance is required by law to have the event recorded in the title.
OTOH US insurance will often declare write-off for levels of damage that to us are still repairable, so it's not uncommon to have "good" cars that will have a salvage title.
Taas kasi ng labor cost sa kanila so oftentimes a seemingly small amount of damage will get a car written off. Not rare for enthusiast owners to buy back their cars to DIY repair after receiving their pay-out.

When I lived in Chicago, I needed a cheap and reliable ride. I bought an old 97 Expedition 4x4 for a low price. Later did i know that the car had a salvaged tag on it. I didn’t mind as the vehicle proved to be a worthy ride even very useful during winters.

but we do have salvaged-from-write-offs,
being sold as "barely-used",
supported by absurd low-odometer readings...
heh heh.
my car was sandwiched in a vehicular accident, some time ago. both front and rear were damaged.
it wasn't as bad as it initially looked.
i had it repaired, replacing panels instead of pukpok-ing them. marami talagang piyesa ang toyota.
i still drive it on a daily basis.
hey! i can even adjust the headlights as like new, and the hatch opens and closes without fanfare.
