I'm guessing you still haven't seen the EcoSport in the metal.
The EcoSport is much larger than a Jimny, it's a full 5-seater the size of a Kia Soul (except it rides higher).

Sirs, I'm planning to purchase the Ecosport Trend MT as company car plan.

Wala ata silang alam about sa Ecosport. Ang sinasabi nila Ecoboost, engine yun eh. Sabi pa nga na ang launching middle of the year.

I have yet to see the Ecosport sa roadshow nila. Hindi pala available yung Lunar Sky sa Trend MT.

Assuming this vehicle would be used for 60% hiway and 40% city driving.. Could this SUV net 11km/L?

Which you now buy: this Ecosport Titanium * 975K or the discounted Kia Sportage A/T now at 1.05M?

Depends on your needs, if purely for city driving, Ford Ecosport.

Most likely it can do better than 11 km / liter.

Very tempting ang Sportage at that price pero IMO kung mostly city driving I'll get the Ecosport. It's smaller so it's easier to park and maneuver. Di naman sya masikip and the cargo area can hold a week's worth of groceries or a stroller (or both?). I don't think dehado din sya sa highway. Kayang-kaya naman nito ang 100kph.

A disadvantage siguro is the smaller back door so ingress/egress for passengers is a bit difficult. Pero once inside there's room to spare for two in the back.

The side opening 5th door can also be a problem. It will last longer than the gas struts on upward-opening hatches though.

As mentioned in the Kotse.com article this class of vehicle is new and potentially huge. Peugeot has its 2008, Hyundai/Kia are reportedly developing something smaller than the Tucson/Sportage, and Mazda is working on a CX3 that will be based on the Skyactiv Mazda 2. Expect more choices in the next year or so

So in other words, don't rush to fall in line, wait because better choices are coming.

pero kung atat na atat na talaga, for 75k difference, i will choose the hyundai sportage. that 75k difference is nothing compared to the amount of car you will be getting - better engine, better tranny, higher ground clearance, more space, and better car overall. e yang ecosport based sa fiesta, reliable ba yung fiesta engine and dct tranny? weeeeh!

i'm not bashing, i'm just stating the very obvious that the sales agents in this board are trying to NOT emphasize here. 975k for an untested subcompact suv that is based on a car that does not particularly excel. there are better alternate choices out there, even now.

Gas most likely. According to the Sportage thread wala daw nagbago sa price ng diesel variants.

    Quick comparison:

    Jimny: 4 seater / 650mm wading / Php 738,000
    Ecosport: 5 seater / 550mm wading / Php 775,000
    Montero 7 seater / 500mm wading / Php 1,208,000
    Fortuner 7 seater / 700mm wading / Php 1,290,000

    If only Jimny was 5-seater...

The rest na "mas maluwag" like Avanza/Innova, their water wading height as good as low cars. If you like more space over a flood capable vehicle below 1M, Ecosport is not for you.

hindi ba nauna ang kia soul sa ganitong category ng sasakyan? i mean platform siya ng accent sedan and even shares the same 1.6 gamma engine of the accent blue.

    ^ Ahh sayang :D

I do hope they also improve the SX4 and the Soul, make them CUV-like sedans instead of sedan-like CUVs.

Can this ecosport be categorized in the CUV-like sedan, since its basically a lifted fiesta, but longer and a bit wider?
