is zic oil okay for the vios? What series/type do you recommend? I read its a type-III oil so it must be good. Where can i buy it and how much is it?

im done researching on the oil filters. im now researching on good oils that are relatively low priced with good performance. i plan to use it for about 8k kms only
sirkosero, Idemitsu Extreme Eco din gamit ko before. if gusto mo talaga gamitin yan, i still have .5L left here. bigay ko nalang sayo hehe i only used it once cause the engine performance wasnt as good even compared to Toyota branded 20w50 mineral oil. Probably the weight 30 oil was too thin. after, i switched to using Zic A 10w40. this is group3 oil. ginamit ko na ito sa Gen1 crv (previously using Royal Purple), gas Innova, and vios. so far so good.

for oil selection sir, API rating of CI-4 would be perfect for your Vios, as from my observation, under this API rating Zinc level is 1200 PPM which is safe your catalytic converter. I was also in the lookout for the best oil possible for my ride and here are some of my recommendations for you

    1. Mobil Delvav MX 15w40
    API Rating: CI-4
    TBN:12
    Zinc: 1200
Price: 250 per liter at Any Ace Hardware

    2. Caltex Delo Gold Ultra 15w40
    API Rating: CI-4
    TBN: 10.2
    Zinc: 1200 Pho: 1100

    3. Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40 - very good oil, a bit pricey though. around 450 per liter (cash and carry makati)

Zic and Bardahl oi okay din sir. basta check mo muna yung product data/technical sheet and watch out for the zinc level. basta hindi lalagpas ng 1200 PPM safe cat con mo.

+ pair it with a good oil filter and you'd be good for 10,000-12,000 KM before your next oil change.

multifleet na ang Delo (not all but almost all). meaning API "C" and "S" rated already,

Bakit naglalabas pa ng w30 sa pinas kung hindi suitable?

Oil filter ratings change all the time due to improvements in design, even something two years ago can be out of date. Always best to call or email for thelatest specs.. The motorcraft link also has a lot of marketing gimmicks in it like the word (may cause) and I notice its showing the old ecore design for the valvoline filter when it was not made by Ashland which is a totally different design with metal end caps and a coil spring.

The use of less viscous oil can make the vehicles they are selling, appear to be fuel efficient, which is good for marketing.

For Subaru, the manual recommends 5W-20 and that is what the local casa uses for each OCI (unless otherwise specified by customer) . Definitely unsuitable for our weather conditions.

    saan available ang zic?

Delo Gold Ultra is at 230 per liter.

Delo Gold - Zinc * 1500 PPM; API Rating CH-4

Grabe ang bilis umusad ng thread hehe. Thanks for this very informative reply sir. Okay lang ba na hanggang 5k or maybe until 7k bago palitan yung oil na ito? Combined with Baldwin BT223? I'll buy 2 of these na sa Volmax para di pabalik balik hehe. Again thanks po!

chiks, yes BT223 ang pang vios and altis. last time i went there, i bought 6 for our 2 toyota cars. that will last us around 18 months of use na. para hindi din balik ng balik. sayang gas and parking e hehe

as for OCI, i know doing the 5k km OCI for baldwin filter is a waste of money. but wouldnt want to gamble with the toyota engine.

Low mileage kasi Vios namin. 5k kilometers will take us at least 6 months. Masama rin naman ata na matagal masyado maabot ang 5k para mag oil change. So in my case I think pwede na yung kada 5k hehe tutal di naman masakit sa bulsa yung Baldwin. Mas mahal pa nga OEM Toyota oil Filter * 315 pesos.

Tama ba yung pinabili ko na baldwin filter for fd and ek civic. B179 and code number? Nasa box sya pero wala plastic wrapper na nakabalot sa oil filter.

Ngayon ko lang nacheck yung baldwinfilters.com. Ang lumabas sa product search for civic and fit b1402. Tapos sa b179 honda automotive (crv and s2000)

    * bayen that motorcraft at is also a bit dated, valvoline filters are now made by Ashland and look nothing like the old ecore design which is what the later acdelcos look like also. Also filter effienciencies will change due to product improvements thats why its always best to call or email for the latest values. i prefer independent testing without the marketing gimmicks (may cause) thats a gimmikk not backed by facts.

You can go 10,000KM on mineral oil + Baldwin BT223 (Combo)

12,000KM to 15,000KM on synthetic but will also depends on the API rating.
Oils like Delo 400 are group 2 will go 12,000 on a diesel so in a gas engine even longer.

Diesel oils are more robust and have a higher TBN so they last longer.
