The ones here are made in Malaysia, i took a look at some already, they are not the same as the US made ones. The other big give away is the plasticc on the bottom of the filter. 5he construction see far. Lighter than the ones from the states. If my tools wlere not all (borrowed) by my in-laws i would cut one open.

My remote bypass set up installed on my Elgrand.

The black filter is my Luberfiner XL series which is 98.9% efficient at 20 microns and 50% * 5 microns and is a full flow and a full synthetic wire backed synthetic media.

And the second is my Fleetguard Venturi combo filter. Basically the best spin on filter you can get for the money period. 98.9% efficient at 20 microns on the full flow and 98.9% efficient at 5 microns on the bypass section.

I will safely be able to go around 35000klm between oil changes. I'm using Mobil Delvac 1300 super 15w40 with a bottle of zddp plus to get my zinc phosphorus levels to around 1800ppm. Engine is extreamly smooth and the oil only has a light black tint to it. The first 2 days it was still clear.

I will do a oil analysis at 10000k on the oil. Getting a sample is easy I just open up the port on the side of the filter mount.

i see. so parang hype lang talaga tong ginagawa ng HKS. lakas kasi nila mag-advertise and magpromote ng product nila.
honda OEM oil is also idemitsu as far as i know. might as well go with RP, mobil 1 or motul na lang. same price or even cheaper actually.

35000klm for these filters is under utilizing them. But i figure with the baf fuel here i did not want to push it to far, of course that depends on the oil test resuults.

Guys just a question regarding Montero oil filters. I called the CASA, they said for the 4d56, the 1230A045 is the OEM filter. for the 4M41, it's the 1230A046. Question is, can i use the baldwin/Fleetguard filters that crosses to the 1230A046?

Will the diameter/length fit? I looked at the oil filter position of the 4d56, it looks like a tight fit.

oil filter for 4d56/4m40/4m41 has the same thread. the only difference is the length. by less than an inch yata. so using BD28 on 4m40/4m41 should not cause any problems.

Thanks sir Crazy_Boy, so i can use the following filters for 4d56: Baldwin BD7028, fleetguard LF3830. Worried about the diameter though. The stock one is around 102mm, while baldwin and fleetguard is 108mm.

im using BD28 on my 4m40. no problem with the diameter as there is enough space naman in the engine bay. and there are other people here with monty who uses bd28 as well.

Don't use LF3830 since it's a full flow vs the bypass of the LF3564 which is more ideal also for the 4d56.

    Hi Fellow Tsikoteers,

I've been reading this threat lately, currently at page 122.

I've read good reviews and good oil analysis on several Diesel oils. I particularly got interested with the Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40 oil mostly because of its affordable pricing and great protection properties, however it says that its for diesel engines.
I've read along the line in this thread that its okay to use diesel oils for gas engines, except it aint good for the catalytic converter, but as mentioned by dvldoc, better to have good protection to the engine than have your cat converter compromised. that being said i have a few questions.

    1. Is it safe for me to use Mobil 1 TDT 5w40 (Zinc less than 1200 PPM) on my gas engine? (Honda Jazz 2010 1.5V AT)
    2. What is the acceptable (safe) level of Zinc on oil for gas engines?
    3. Using Mobil 1 TBT 5w40 + Baldwin 7243 Combo - what is the recommended mileage before i do an oil change? i read somewhere here 10K to 12K is safe figure,
    4. Am currently using Motul H-Tech 100 5w40 on my ride, will switching to a diesel oil cause any problem? Do i need to flush out the old oil?
    5. I cant seem to find a Technical Spec for Motul H-tech 100, im curious how much phos, zinc, boron, calcium it has.

    thanks folks.

Well actuually you could, look at it like this usinng the VIC version you got a 40 micron filter even though it has a bypass section, which is only filtering 10% of the oil at a time. Now the fleetguard is a 25 micron filter with a much better filter element.

The lf3564 is the better filter to use, not that they sell a quality one here, but the other is a good optionn if you can get a made in USA version

Its like my filter set up, the luberfiner version of my fleetguard is a full flow vs the fleetguards bypass set up due to it having a synthetic media and high flow capacity.

I have already had 3 PM and a email saying those ones from pacer started to leak on them so I would stick with the quality bd28.

hello guys, i read somewhere here that bosch oil filter is also good? Its for honda civic 2000 model. Plan to use castrol 10w40, and change oil of at least 7K kilometer reading...is bosch good enough? Price is 300.

i would use Bosch if there is no stock of Baldwin. and yes, it is better than Vic or OEM Thai made filter. But since there are a lot of stock for the Honda engine, I would prefer to use Baldwin.

They are a decent filter, they are not the same as the US made ones, different filter media.

*crazyboy, dvldoc, bayen - thanks for ur inputs. Baldwin sellers in binondo is way too far from me, marikina area ako. That 300 price is from a shell gas station thats why its priced high. Will have to look in a nearby auto supply.
