Mineral , semi synthetic or fully synthetic?

There is this GS oil and now S-oil. I wonder how does it fare with GS oil in terms of its pricing.

My brother just bought a brand new innova diesel. Sabi ng SA sa kanya pwede daw up to 10k change oil kung fully synthetic. How true is this ? I think it's BS since whatever oil is used on diesel engines, madali pa rin dumumi at lumapot.

Ang advise naman sa akin using Top1 SDO every 7k change oil. Mdyo uneasy din siya sa 10k lalo na at diesel engine.

It's not BS.

You/Your brother can consult the car's manual. Written there is the manufacturer's recommended oil change interval.

Mitsubishi has it at 10,000km for their Fully Synthetic oil with top up/filter change *5000km.

With a regular oil filter (i.e. VIC or even toyota OEM), i'd be wary about changing every 10,000kms. But with a Baldwin and a good fully synthetic oil, 10,000km intervals should be doable.

IMHO, if the car is equipped with a intercooler/turbo better install a catch can. The catch can prevents the oil from "pooling" in the intercooler and going into the turbo. It also collects water vapor present in the engine. This is especially needful if the vehicle is not subjected to long drives. Just make sure to place the catch can in a cool place for it to effectively do its job.

^ oo nga eh. i'm already using baldwin oil filters for my fd. i ordered 3 pcs from our fellow tsikoteer (bayen) last summer. i paired it w/ mag 1's 5w-30 fully synth motor oil and i've got no complaints

going back to the monty thingy, i've heard that mitsubishi peeps have issues against using non-oem oil filters though. will verify that na lang muna bago order kay bayen uli kung may stock siya

sorry late reply brother. i was out of the country (at sea) for 4 months. I believe the transaction re: dmax filter happened sometime back in July or something, i was already in Shanghai that time hence i couldn't take care of it anymore. my deepest apologies my friend. please contact me 0922-85-22-936 so that i can arrange for replacement at no cost. worry not i'll take care of everything. just ping me the exact baldwin filter part number you need for the dmax. most of my dmax clients, the LF689 is a perfect fit for them, this might have been different from yours as different engine codes.

Im sorry, it wasn't Baldwin for the Dmax, it was a Fleetguard.

Wala naman akong naging problem kay sir bayen, ok siya as a seller. Madaling kausap. Kaso ayoko ng maulit ung hassle na ganon where pagdating mo sa shop, di pala compatible ung part, which in my case oil filter, na dala mo. Napabili tuloy sila sir Migs ng pang Dmax kasi wala din silang oil filter na pang 4JJ1 na Dmax na available sa Speedyfix. 2x pang bumalik ung tao nila kasi ung unang Vic, di padin compatible. Buti nung pang 2nd na bili, nakuha na.

Kaya nung due for change oil ulit ako, alam na ni sir Migs kung anong number ng Vic ang pwede sa Dmax ko.

Pero sana pinalitan ni sir bayen ung LF filter but I never heard from him again. Hinayaan ko nalang pero di na ako bibili ulit.

Sa sulit meron seller doon ito nakalagay para sa isuzu na baldwin at fleetguard.

Subukan mo ulit yung LF689 mo baka fit naman. Ako pinakabit ko yung B179 sa civic sabi ng mechaniko hindi daw match kasi malaki outer diameter. Sinabi ko subukan nya eh match naman pala. Wag ka madiscourage dahil sa situation na yan at hindi ka na gagamit ng heavy duty oil filter. Mas nakakabuwisit gumamit ng vic.

i have heard same stories like this from other members, kesyo hindi oem kesyo hindi vic, the mechanic refuses to use the baldwin, unang tingin kasi kesyo malaki daw etc etc. perfect example, the case with a celerio club member, she brought in a BT223 to be used for her celerio, mechanic from the casa said its too big daw? another member of celerio club phil, BT223 as well, brought in his celerio to a NON Casa shop, BT223 fit like a glove.
sometimes is also marketing strategy for the casa, less parts sold from their end lower profit margin, heavy duty oil filter designed for extended oil change interval does not work to their advantage. oo nga naman, extended oil change interval = less visit to the casa means less profit for them. i've had my jazz for 4 years now, only twice brought to the stealership, until now its in tip top shape. no issues whatsoever. i just follow the checklist when having its PMS done.

Been using valvoline durablend 10w40 in my ride, (the one stated in this pdf)
paired with bosch oil filter, might be sticking to this combo for a while.
Not into extended oci, since semi synth lang yung durablend,
nakakapanatag lang sa icip na gumagamit ka ng Quality oil and filter,
kahit mag rev happy paminsan minsan, well Protected naman.

Disappointed with Mobil1 FS 0W-40. Now this is the one company that is good at marketing. Terrible results from the test.
