BTW, has anyone tried using Bardahl SynPower Fully Synthetic 15W-40? I'm planning to use this on D4D engine. Meron din nga palang Top 1 SDO, but currently looking for FS oils. TIA

Mas maingay ba talaga ang engine kapag fully synthetic gamit kesa sa mineral oil? On newer engines.

IMO something else to be concerned about lalo na on modern turbodiesels is fuel dilution. Unlike old school diesels, multiple injections na kasi per stroke, so in theory fuel dilution might occur faster. Out of curiosity I'm going to have synthetic oil samples analyzed at 8Tkms and 10Tkms.

As to which is better, synthetic, semi or mineral it all depends on your maintenance budget and how long you want to keep the car. Even with synthetics the performance of each brand varies. In my experience Motul>Royal Purple>Mobil Delvac. Most of the time the more expensive brand is better. But still to the point of diminishing returns. Some expensive brands are just plain snake oil, like Magna***.

Same lang ang noise during normal operating temp. Pag cold start, iba. It depends on the viscosity you're using an the engine you're running.

Guys, our Innova d4d currently has Toyota fully synthetic oil in it. It already ran 5,000kms the past 6 months.
Before I decided on using fully synthetic, casa service advisor said we just need to change oil filter after 5k kms if we jse synthetic. But now when I was trying to set a schedule for pms, the rep said I need to change oil since 6 months has passed.
FYI, on mineral oils, I change every 5,000kms and 6 months which fortunately coincide with each other up to now.

Would you recommend extending my synthetic oils for another 5,000kms or 6 months. We live in Laguna and daily car use is around 5-10kms with minimal traffic.

Actually, I am willing to change my oil filter after 5000kms even if I have fully synthetic oil in the car. So that is not an issue with me me. But to change oil i n exactly the same mileage and period of usage as when I used mineral oil is something hard to swallow considering the cost.

I already ask the one in charge of the email to ask the service advisor about this.

with your given driving conditions + the protection benefits of your oil, i doubt your filter gone foul * 5K km. waste of time & money or it's just me.

IMHO, mag semi-synthetic ka na lang then palit oil every 5,000kms since yung car mo having repeated short trips which is considered as severe driving condition.

Maybe for good.

We have a Toyota Fort 2.5 D4D filled with Top 1 SDO, coming from semi-synthetic from casa.

May nakasabay ako Fort 3.0 D4D filled with Delo 400.

Kaya next time, I'll try Delo 400 and will stick with it.

For me, ok lang mga oil na yan. dipende na lang kung paano mo i-maintain ang frequency ng change oil.
Kung mas gusto mong tumagal ang makina, Huwag mo ng paabutin sa 5k, 4.5k is much better lalo na kung majority ng route e sa city. kung synthetic ang gamit, maybe 9k-km is better.

Mineral , semi synthetic or fully synthetic?
