I'm using Motul at the moment. Forgot the price, around 600+ per liter yata. Sorry for the error, group 5 na nga pala itong crdi specific.

I'm not saying group 3 synthetics are bad, I just chose group 4/5 because I'm running a chip and change oil at 10TKm. The only group 3 syn I've had experience with is Mobil TDT. Good performance but in my application quite a bit of oil loss from evaporation. It was visible at the tailpipe (bluish white smoke). I had to add a bit of oil before 10Tkms. When I changed to group 4/5 no more bluish smoke, no more oil consumption.

Maybe the Monteros and Stradas with VGT have this issue with oil as well. I live near the plant in Cainta, and almost every time a brand new unit fills up at the Shell station nearby it always has similar looking smoke at idle or part throttle.
ang mura ng motul mo.... recently did fs oil and its grp3 imo. and its way more expensive than motul. wish I can get grp4/5 here. I plan keeping the car over 500k lol.

Penzoil rep said pureplus properties are better than grp3 in some ways.

I checked the hdeo/rotella series...it didnt mention pureplus.

Nabasa ko sa bitog, no such thing as group 3+. Either group 3 or 4 lang daw. So technically, group 3 lang ang pure plus cause it didnt meet the criteria of group 4 cause of the base oil process. Kailangan daw PAO based to be group 4.

But it was also said that pureplus can perform as good, if not better, than group 4 based oils. After 1 week of use sa vios namin, happy naman with the results.

Hehe. Got it at semi clearance price. Anong group 3 oil yung gamit mo? IMHO if the engine isn't demanding on the oil (NA, low EGTs, no EGR, etc) and oil change intervals are short group 4/5 based oils aren't necessary.

To people who are curious about base oil groups, here is a link explaining the differences between them:
Understanding the Differences in Base Oil Groups

Base oils aren't everything, there are some UOAs on BITOG that have some group 3 oils matching (sometimes exceeding?) group 4 oils' performance. Maybe with a more demanding engine, higher ambient temps or longer OCIs results would be different.

I am due for 10k PMS next month, on my previous PMS I used oil provided by the casa but this time I am planning to buy 1 on my own. It is said in my car's manual that I should use SAE 5W-30 oil... anu magandang brand ng oil with the same specs.

    Thanks in advance po...

if kasya sa budget mo i would suggest go with the new shell with pure plus...
piliin mo lang yung same spec required sa manual mo, im sure meh equivalent yan...

it took shell more than 20 years to mass produce the product and develop the technologies para maging mainstream,
ito ang forefront nang engine oil

At 1k PMS, choice mo lang kung mineral, semi o fully ng casa. Filter sa kanila rin kasi di rin naman sila makaka siguro kung fake o hindi kapag binili sa labas.
