Baka yung design sir talaga ng engine eh ok na yung w30 viscosity kahit sa tropical climate. Ok lang yan IMO.

newer gasoline engines are geared towards fuel efficiency and emission compliance...

nauuso kasi mga tintatawag na "energy conserving oils" ( ILSAC GF-5 ) yan ang mga 0w-20 / 0w-30 / 5w-30/10w-30

the more an oil is able to provide fuel efficiency the lesser it provides wear protection.... because of its thinning...
the thinner the oil and easier to flow the better fuel economy but is not good at protecting the engines at high temp high load conditions...

Pero it's stated in the manual. Why would Hyundai reccomend such viscosity if it means lesser wear protection for the engine.

Sir, 5W-30 ung recommended pero nakalagay ba sa manual ung ibang oil viscosity grade na pwede rin?

Yup nakalagay din. 10w30 yata yung isa, then 5w20 pero bawal daw sa sobrang init na climate like in the middle east. Wala akong nakita na 40 ang dulo

sundin mo ang manual. baka masyadong thick na ung 40 para sa theta II engine.

so ibig sabihin OK lang i-extend ung oil change interval to 10Km/1yr (which ever comes first)?

yes basta mga PAO based engine oil pwede yan sa extended drain interval provided "used good and quality filters".....

basta sundin ang nasa manual pag ang vehicle ay under warranty para walang issue if ever magka-warranty claims in the future pero kung out of warranty na, 10w40 is a unviversal weight for tropical climates like here... changing from 10w30 to 10w40 doesn't really have any adverse effect unless the engine system is different from traditional engine builds...

may nabasa akong article na sinasabi pag bago ang engine much better ang 30 viscosity. pero pag gamit na pwede na 40. hindi ko lang alam kung ano ang logic dito.

most synthetics should be able to sustain a 10k km oil change interval.

stick with the required viscosity for the engine whether it's new or old na. you can change viscosities if you mod it or there are other factors, but in most cases, stick with the manufacturers recommended viscosity.

I would like to ask regarding engine noise especially for diesel engine. Why is it that during a cold start, engine seems to be quiet. But after some driving, you could hear the engine noise and then it would revert back to being quiet. Is this the norm for a diesel engine? can it be quiet all through out if you use a FS oil?

doesn't seem normal to me. engine sound should be the same regardless of temp or time running.

the sound may decrease slightly with better oil but if there is a sound, this may be indicative of other problems the engine may have.

Sir, the sound that im referring to is the usual diesel engine sound. it is just that at times it becomes slightly louder than usual but would always revert back to quiet sound. Nothing unusual like knocking sound or something. Good point on your comment that engine sound must be the same regardless of temp and time running. I'll see when I change it with a good oil.

Just to clarify. We often hear the phrase "for extended oil change interval". Does this applies to all CI-4 rated diesel engine oil? or which API rating does the phrase refer to?

baliktad ang scenario mo ah. sa pipip ko, maingay when cold for about 5 seconds then going silent na when the oil have fully circulated. at mas silent pa when hot na.

have it checked to be sure. ano ba yan? conventional or crdi diesel?

Baka ang radiator fan lang yung maingay. Mas frequent ata to naka-on pag normal engine temp na keysa cold engine temp.

Sir, CRDi diesel. cge, pakinggan ko mabuti kung sa engine or pwede rin sa radiator fan as sir doy stated. Usually when I'm in full stop at traffic light, I would at times turn-off the radio and hear the engine sound, sometimes it is medyo loud (but not unusually loud) but sometimes tahimik naman. I noticed also when I'm at full stop and shift the gear to neutral tumatahimik ung engine sound.

Any comments on the Mobil 1 (0W-40)? Php 610/liter. American Stock (silver packaging) and not Asia market (bronze package)

Mobil 1 0W-40 Advanced Full Synthetic Motor Oil

    Definitely a Group IV oil.

that oil is very good... factory fill for high end cars brands.... you can't go wrong with that...

    API SN/SM/SL/SJ
    Viscosity Index 185
Total Base Number (ASTM D2896) 11.8
    HTHS Viscosity, mPa•s * 150ºC, (ASTM D4683) 3.8
