Guys this should generally be your rule of thumb when choosing the oil you need so that you get the most protection!!!

**Amount of Sulfur in Philippine Diesel fuel >500PPM?
**Is vehicle equipped with Diesel particulate filter?

----if sulfur level in fuel is greater than >500PPM choose CI-4
----if sulfur level in fuel is less than <50PPM choose CJ-4

----if vehicle is equipped with Diesel particulate filter use CJ-4
----if vehicle is not equipped with Diesel particulate filter use CI-4

The main reason why CJ-4 is created is because in other countries
Sulfur levels in the fuel have been reduced(advancement in diesel fuel)
And prolong life of particulate filters and catalytic converters

The TBN ( total base number/ ability to neutralize the acids formed primarily because of high sulfur levels in fuel) is lowered
the CJ-4 oils have lower phosphorus and other anti-wear additives generally termed as ASH...
The lower TBN of CJ-4 oils is due to the fact that the fuel has low sulfur and doesn't not need that much acid combating power

The TBN of CI-4 oils are usually high (10-12) because the fuel that is expected to be used is high in Sulfur.. therefore it contains lots of anti-wear like phosphorus and others to combat the sulfur acid effect....

As with our current sulfur levels in our diesel fuel CI-4 oils would be a better option...
ONCE it has been legalized and less than 50PPm of sulfur is enacted then CJ-4 would be option,,,,

    ^

baka sunod ng CJ-4 ay CK-4 na tapos puro less than 50ppm sulfur fuel level na. hindi na applicable sa atin. well, except for euro IV or V on some gas stations.

too bad, the Zic UP i bought doesnt have Cummins rating.

Meets API service category CI-4/SL and MB 228.3/229.1 performances.
    Meets ACEA A3/B3/B4.

though a friend is also using the same oil in his 4g63 powered adventure.

^ Mataas naman TBN at yung VI so semi-syn talaga yan CB. Plus CI-4/SL rated yan so very good for both diesel and gas engines (as long as hindi more than 1200ppm yung zinc nga).

Mas okay sa climate natin and laso for older engines yung w40 viscosity. So better yang Delo Gold na SL rated naman. You don't need to worry about zinc levels since it i just about right at 1200ppm.

Still great oil, Mobil TDT does not have the rating either. They don't meet Cummins due to the Phosphorus content is to low.

The specs on Mobil which is almost double the cost are not much different.

Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40
    SAE Grade 5W-40
    Viscosity, cSt (ASTM D445)
    * 40ºC 97.9
    * 100ºC 14.5
    Viscosity Index 153
    Phosporous (ASTM D4951) 0.11
    HTHS Viscosity, mPa•s * 150ºC (ASTM D4683) 3.8
    Sulfated Ash, wt% (ASTM D874) 0.95
    Total Base #, mg KOH/g (ASTM D2896) 10.7
Flash Point, ºC (ASTM D92) 215
    Density * 15.6ºC g/ml (ASTM D4052) 0.85

Less than P200 lang yan per liter. Delo Gold Ultra or the delo gold is enough for your ride.

again i doubt mobil 1 even if imported is ester. it's normally a group 3 composed of a mineral base stock with synthetic additives.

My concern with Petron products is that they don't publish the composition of their oil. Viscocity readings lang. Would you buy a product without knowing what's inside. Comparable naman yung price nang Shell Rimula R3 sa Trekker at since maganda yung rating at additives package niya, IMHO, you're better off with Shell Rimula R3, Zic Up 10w40 or Delo Gold Ultra.

Our GS has only 15KKm on the odometer,- and so, I am still using Shell Rimula X R3.... I will be switching to the synthetic variant HX7 in the next couple of oil changes... Curiously, Rimula X R3 has more certifications than the other (synthetic) variants....

And others would say that the darker, the better, as the diesel engine oil should be able to float all of the dirt in the engine as part of its cleaning property....

I believe Shell Rimula R3 X is better than Helix Diesel HX7. If youe want a semi-synthetic that is comparable to the price of HX7 and also synthetic, Top 1 SDO is a better bet or even Delo Sports Semi-syn. Also Zix Up is semi-syn for just P200/liter from one of our tsikot member. Miko101130 sells them.

Bro, i would recommend that you use Delo gold if you want better protection.... mas mahal nga lang konti pero that translates into something tangible in terms of assurance and protection for your engine...

among the Big three oil companies here locally, caltex Delo gold is superior ( factually known)...
petron doesn't publish any data regarding their oils...

its like when you are buying in the groceries.. you read at the back whats the ingredients contained on the product you are buying..

Same price lang po yan halos if sa mga auto shop na malalaki kayo bibili. Delo Gold and R3 are both CH-4 rated, Delo Gold Ultra yung medyo nasa P190-220 ang CI-4 rated.
