Hi DD,
I never really became OC with EGR until I experienced stalling and choking in my last vehicle. Based on some research its normally off on idle and will not turn on until normal operating temp is reached by the engine.
1. So will this be good for short distance driving like 3kms a day where the normal temp is not even reached (parang blanked lang siya) or should I drive more and let it reach normal operating temp? I mean if its not opening, its like blanked and no soot will form right?
2. Will it help if I do some short high rpm shifting say 2.5krpm during short distances or should it be constant speed at high rpm?
3. For a 5 day a week short trip (3kms a day), is it okay to do a once a month highway driving to burn some formed soot or should it be more often say 2x a month? Whats the procedure, 2.5k rpm steady for a number of minutes?
Many thanks Sir!

August 19th, 2013 11:53 PM #2048my 1997 Kia Sportage RF TDI 4x4 had a very poor FC. Computed 7km/liter (city driving) with AC ON, driving in a very light traffic.
Injectors was calibrated twice this year
Injection pump is new (1 year old)
Fuel Lifters is new (1 mo old)
Air Filter is new (2 weeks old)
Engine Oil is new (10w-30 wid X1R)
Oil Filter is new (4 months old)
its suppose to be driving at 12km/liter malayo masyado sa 7km/liter.
1.) anu at saan kaya ang may problema? bakit lakas uminom ng sportage ko?
2.) ipa recalibrate ko ulit? kxi nakakaduda ang 2 calibrations
3.) totoo kaya baka butas na masyado injectors neto? (220k nsa odometer)
Salamat sa inyong advice.

Maganda ba ang andar? No excessive white ot black smoke?
Injectors was calibrated twice this year Why was injector calibration done 2X in one year?
Injection pump is new (1 year old) New pump has the same part number as the original pump?
Fuel Lifters is new (1 mo old) What do you mean by fuel lifters?
Air Filter is new (2 weeks old)
Engine Oil is new (10w-30 wid X1R)
Oil Filter is new (4 months old)

August 20th, 2013 08:23 PM #2050Hi DD,
I never really became OC with EGR until I experienced stalling and choking in my last vehicle. Based on some research its normally off on idle and will not turn on until normal operating temp is reached by the engine. EGR works weather the engine is cold or hot.
1. So will this be good for short distance driving like 3kms a day where the normal temp is not even reached (parang blanked lang siya) or should I drive more and let it reach normal operating temp? I mean if its not opening, its like blanked and no soot will form right? EGR is open when engine is at idle; and closes when engine is loaded.
There is no exact procedure. Just drive the car with pedal on the floor occasionally. This will exercise the EGR to open and close, as well as clean the system
Many thanks Sir!
soy-based wire insulation. 1. cheaper than the petroleum-based plastic insulation. 2....
