I never really became OC with EGR until I experienced stalling and choking in my last vehicle. Based on some research its normally off on idle and will not turn on until normal operating temp is reached by the engine. EGR works weather the engine is cold or hot.
1. So will this be good for short distance driving like 3kms a day where the normal temp is not even reached (parang blanked lang siya) or should I drive more and let it reach normal operating temp? I mean if its not opening, its like blanked and no soot will form right? EGR is open when engine is at idle; and closes when engine is loaded.
2. Will it help if I do some short high rpm shifting say 2.5krpm during short distances or should it be constant speed at high rpm?
3. For a 5 day a week short trip (3kms a day), is it okay to do a once a month highway driving to burn some formed soot or should it be more often say 2x a month? Whats the procedure, 2.5k rpm steady for a number of minutes?
There is no exact procedure. Just drive the car with pedal on the floor occasionally. This will exercise the EGR to open and close, as well as clean the system
