Dieseldude,
one more time.
my battery just gave up this afternoon....i jumpstarted it using a battery from a nearby batt shop...upon starting, white smoke came out and after a few acceleration there's still white smoke but on the way home it was black again during sudden acceleration....i found out that the solenoid connection is loose...had some checks with the batt shop using a meter....batt shop said nothings wrong with starter (probably), alternator and battery..problem is with the wirings.
ang palaisipan e bakit ngayon lang nangyari e matagal nang lazy starting ang engine...with regards sa short-to-grounds, mabagal na trabaho ito kung meron man...
plus i've read from a foreign forum that timing retard also causes turbo lag...mejo may koneksyon ito sa problema ko kasi nga di ko na marinig sipol ng turbo kapag acceleration.
kindly enlighten me sir. TIA

my engine overheats faster than before prior to the HG replacement. What is the HG?
would an injection timing be the cause? during the reassembly i accidentally rotated the IP sprocket about 1.5 turns cw when installing the timing belt.... engine power also feels lower plus it seems my FC increased. engine is 4D56B air cooled turbo. Check injection pump timing.
i replaced and retightened all loose bolts connecting battery and starter motor yet it still starts at a lower rpm. Weak battery maybe? How old is your battery?
TIA

Is the CKP rotor on a diesel engine vital to engine starting? We overhauled a diesel Hyundai Santa Fe and were not able to make it start ever since. After a co-mechanic suggested the CKP, we tore down the engine again and noticed the wheel with several notches bent..

Salamat ng madami DD sa replies....
nga pala HG is head gasket...sorry sa abbreviation.
my battery is motolite gold N70 which is about 1 year and a month old.
4d56 diesel mated to an automatic tranny...i drive it about 5 days a week with A/C running most of the time...i suspect that the A/C kills the battery fast...checked the alternator and it was good using the Sun vat meter at the battery shop.
i'll have the timing checked this afternoon and i'll update regarding sa performance....
thanks again

sir DD,
just came from the pump specialist...told me the timing is good as long as the timing marks are aligned...yet he adjusted the shift cable for the transmission plus tightened the fuel adjustment screw because it is leaking...the acceleration feels smoother now...
as per his (mechanic) observation of the exhaust gases during sudden acceleration, the engine is fine except for some blowby. the blowby is acceptable since the engine is getting old.
