    Dieseldude,

    one more time.

my battery just gave up this afternoon....i jumpstarted it using a battery from a nearby batt shop...upon starting, white smoke came out and after a few acceleration there's still white smoke but on the way home it was black again during sudden acceleration.... Check injection pump timing....

I found out that the solenoid connection is loose...had some checks with the batt shop using a meter....batt shop said nothings wrong with starter (probably), alternator and battery..problem is with the wirings. Check battery cables, grounds and positive main connectors.

ang palaisipan e bakit ngayon lang nangyari e matagal nang lazy starting ang engine...with regards sa short-to-grounds, mabagal na trabaho ito kung meron man...

plus i've read from a foreign forum that timing retard also causes turbo lag...mejo may koneksyon ito sa problema ko kasi nga di ko na marinig sipol ng turbo kapag acceleration. Baka maayos lahat yan pag na-time nang tama ang pump....

    kindly enlighten me sir. TIA

Is the CKP rotor on a diesel engine vital to engine starting? We overhauled a diesel Hyundai Santa Fe and were not able to make it start ever since. After a co-mechanic suggested the CKP, we tore down the engine again and noticed the wheel with several notches bent..

Is the CKP rotor on a diesel engine vital to engine starting? Yes.

We overhauled a diesel Hyundai Santa Fe and were not able to make it start ever since. After a co-mechanic suggested the CKP, we tore down the engine again and noticed the wheel with several notches bent.. Why did you initially overhaul the engine? Did you ever find out the cause for the bent teeth?

Since the wheel was bolted at the end of the crankshaft and was not taken out of it, we know now the crankshaft was unknowingly dropped by our mechanic or still possible, while being at the machine shop as evidenced by the scratch marks on where the teeth are bent.
The engine was overhauled due to mechanical knocks caused by poor oil change intervals and prolonged low oil level.

Will you replace or repair the wheel?

My boss will go to Korea tomorrow so we will buy it there, but lately we were having problems with the availability of some Hyundai parts from there so I'll have the wheel aligned by the machine shop to be sure.

Alignment by machine shop is possible. It should also be balanced to prevent vibration at high rpms.
