December 24th, 2009 11:58 AM #801Sir I got an Innova J D4D
is that a water cooled or oil cooled?
D4D engine is both water cooled and oil lubricated.
what is the difference between the performance?
I don't understand your question.
as Page 1 of his thread shows oil is to lubricate, water is for cooling... so can the vehicle have both for it to function at its topmost....
A car needs both these systems to function properly (cooling and lube system).

December 24th, 2009 12:24 PM #802Sir, as to when is the vehicle needs to be put unto calibration center? Diesel car owners normally have their engnes or diesel injection system checked when they notice irregular engine performance like: low power, black smoke, rough running, etc.
what does a Calibration Center usually check and what do they really do to your engine - The calibration center works only on the engine's diesel fuel injection system..... not the engine.
yes, to calibrate your engine thats why they are called calibration center - can you kindly, put it into laymans term/easy to understand why an engine needs to be calibrated... the engine is not calibrated.
is it only diesel engine(s) that needs to be calibrated? Yes, only the fuel system of a diesel engine is calibrated. Gasoline engines don't normally require this service.
* am just curious coz there are numerous calibration center am seeing here in my place - but most of them are fixin jeepneys not private cars, as to what I noticed... Where are you located?
thank you... You're welcome. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

sir, what I meant in here is that... ex. the Innova is only water cooled; what is the difference between a 2.diesel water cooled and a 2.5 oil cooled

tnx a lot...

isnt there a necessary kilometer(s) run by the vehicle that requires the vehicle to be calibrated (ex. Change oil-mineral - every 5k kms); coz my Innova is already 70k kms. in Odo, yet performing at its topmost condition; I just dont want to lose its performance...
what does a Calibration Center usually check and what do they really do to your engine - The calibration center works only on the engine's diesel fuel injection system..... not the engine.
honestly I am somewhat ashame to ask this, but what the heck, id rather ask this than remain innocent... isn't that diesel fuel injection system part of the engine?

thank you... You're welcome. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions. thanks again... youre such a great help....

Just like most engines, the Innova is oil lubricated. Oil lubricates the engine, and assists in cooling the engine. The engine needs both systems.

December 27th, 2009 02:55 AM #806Sir, as to when is the vehicle needs to be put unto calibration center? Diesel car owners normally have their engnes or diesel injection system checked when they notice irregular engine performance like: low power, black smoke, rough running, etc.

Change oil and other engine-related service intervals are stated in the owners manual. Diesel calibration service is not included on the service interval.
what does a Calibration Center usually check and what do they really do to your engine - The calibration center works only on the engine's diesel fuel injection system..... not the engine.
honestly I am somewhat ashame to ask this, but what the heck, id rather ask this than remain innocent... isn't that diesel fuel injection system part of the engine?Yes it is. But it doesn't need to be serviced regularly as it is built to last. Diesel fuel injection systems often fail due to dirty and/or use of water contaminated fuel, or use of poor quality fuel filters.
is it only diesel engine(s) that needs to be calibrated? Yes, only the fuel system of a diesel engine is calibrated. Gasoline engines don't normally require this service. but can a gasoline engined vehicle be calibrated?
Yes, the gasoline fuel injectors can be calibrated as the need arises.

tnx for clarifying...
why do you happen to know this stuff, I believe youre a Mech. Engineer or something? or probably, do you own a calibration center?
do you happen to know how much, would it cost for an Innova to be calibrated?
can I just go to a calibration center, just to have my tsikot checked by them if it needs to be calibrated?
tnx again...

December 28th, 2009 12:41 AM #808tnx for clarifying...
why do you happen to know this stuff? Because I have been in the field of diesel fuel injection for more than 30 years.
I believe youre a Mech. Engineer or something? or probably, do you own a calibration center?View my occupation under Dieseldude's public profile.
do you happen to know how much it would cost for an Innova to be calibrated? Cost depends on what's wrong with your Innova. Is there anything wrong with your car? You don't need calibration service if your car performs well.
can I just go to a calibration center, just to have my tsikot checked by them if it needs to be calibrated? No. Not all calibration centers can service the Innova or any common rail diesel system. Only workshops which have fault scanning capability and common rail test equipment can do this service.
tnx again... You're welcome.

wow you got a long great work experience...
do you happen to know how much it would cost for an Innova to be calibrated? Cost depends on what's wrong with your Innova. Is there anything wrong with your car? none, as of the moment.. hoping nothing would happen in the near future...You don't need calibration service if your car performs well. alright!

December 29th, 2009 07:05 PM #810Sir help po! kanina before ako umalis ini-start ko na yung sasakyan para uminit na yung makina, normal running for more or less mga 10mins bago ako umalis then mga about a kilometer pa lang yung natatakbo ko, biglang nanginig yung makina, naging palyado then pagnagre-rev ako, ang lakas ng usok (bluish gray) tapos humina ang hatak, bumaba ang rpm pero di naman namamatay ang makina, wala din problema sa starting. Bumalik na lang ako sa bahay at di na ako umalis baka kasi itirik ako. Ano po kaya ang problema? rotor head po kaya? (sana hindi naman). Possible kaya na injection pump? How about yung nozzle tip? Nagreplace kasi ako ng nozzle tip almost a month ago na, mausok at malakas sa diesel kasi before but after mapalitan yung nozzle tip, nawala yung usok, tumipid din sa diesel pero hindi nagbago ang batak. By the way, nakita ko naman po kung paano ni-replace yung nozzle tip, maayos at same code din yung pinalit, zexel po yung brand.
Ride ko po, 97 Isuzu TFR 4JA1
Thanks
I got it from lazada. I've seen only 3 pounders at mall hardware stores kaya pinatos ko na ito...
