So where is the benefits of using Shell E10 gasoline for the end user? If the savings is 5% in cost per liter but results in 10% less in fuel milage, the net result is a poorer fuel to use.

Anyone with some data of the pricing and typical fuel milage lost/gained when using E10 vs regular unleaded gasoline?

Pwede ba kaya ito sa 2AZ-FE engine ng bagong Toyota 'R50'?

    EDIT: AG4....

Speaking of which, do you know when Toyota released the "revised" 2AZ-FE (170 ps/224 Nm torque) and the "original" 2AZ-FE (153-155 ps/225 Nm torque)?

Reason I'm asking is because I'm gonna a Toyota Previa (R50) which is the one that will come out this week. Of course, I won't buy it now but it will be for next year. However, the 2.4 engine that comes with it is a "revised" 2AZ-FE.

So as early as now, I want to know as to what year should the engines at least be in order to run Ethanol up 10%.

Ethanol is an alternative fuel. It was designed to decrease U.S. dependence on foreign oil (apparently, they have lots of ethanol in their backyard).

Its said to be more enviro friendly also.

I loaded up full tank with e10 just tonight. Sadly, its more expensive than unleaded.

I usually load up in Shell Kapitolyo and it would cost me just 38.75 per liter. At Shell Pasong Tamo where I loaded with e10, it sold for 39.67 per liter. I was dismayed by the price thinking that since it was 90% gasoline, I was expecting I'll pay around 93-95% of the current price of unleaded gasoline. I'll just wait for e10 to be sold at Shell Kapitolyo hopefully at a lower price.

As for the performance, I would say just the same lang, probably just a bit peppier than before.

Mileage? I'll post after 10 days. That's how long it usually takes for me to finish a tank of gas.

Doesn't gas prices just went up twice over the week or two? Premium is at Php40+ mark already. Not sure about regular unleaded, bu I recon it's barely over Php40 also.

...Mguy, yung kapitolyo is the one along shaw right? gas is really cheaper there compared to other areas coz super unleaded is already 39.++ in most stations.

Hmn, this is a pity. I was hoping maging 95+ sya at the very least. Base on the article, Ethanol should add 2-3 points to the Octane value.

Correct. Most of the gas stations in that strip of shaw from Kapitolyo to C-5 sell gasoline usually .50 to 1.00 lower than other gasoline stations. Don't know why though.

Going back to this e10, mileage does not look promising as I've notice the needle on the fuel gauge drops faster now vis-a-vis the km reading on my odometer. I usually consume 11kpl but from the way its going I might be lucky just to get 10kpl.

I mentioned earlier that ethanol blended gasoline gives less fuel milage than regular unleaded gasoline. Given that, its NOT economical to use E10 gasoline for the typical car owner.

I think the problem with E10's pricing is the cost of ethanol production is not cheaper than gasoline. The main concept of using ethanol is to save our dollars from buying foreign oil for fuel. If we can grow our own fuel, even at a fraction, it will save the country money in the long run. But even then, it's NOT economical to use E10 gasoline for the typical car owner who is more concerned about maximizing his limited monthly budget.

Actually, our problem with ethanol cost right now is production. With higher volumes as other gas stations enter the market for ethanol, production and processing should become more efficient.

It'll take a while, but we do have the capacity to do a "Brazil" and produce enough ethanol locally to offset oil imports by quite a bit. It just requires willpower and investment.
