November 26th, 2017 11:24 PM #1263How will you rate MT vs. CVT in terms of engine breaking while going downhill? Say going down Kennon road, if you’ll rate the following from 1 to 10 in terms of engine brake effectiveness (10 being the most effective):
1. MT on 1st gear
2. MT on 2nd gear
3. CVT on ‘S’ mode
4.CVT on ‘L’ mode

For manual tranny doing engine braking going downhill is dependent on driver skill.
If the driver knows what gear to use that can adapt to road conditions then the efficiency rating would be 10.
Again, it depends on driving skill

December 13th, 2017 08:45 AM #1267What if i plan to keep the car for at least 10 years? What would you recommend for a more hassle-free maintenance?

Short answer: Get a manual.
Long answer:
If you're still considering buying an A/T, there are a lot of factors in play here. Are you a careful driver? Is the car known to have reliable A/Ts for that car model and generation? How well do you maintain your vehicles?
Then there's the decision you have to make whether an A/T is worth the extra TCO for the benefits it can provide. It's usually true that convenience adds complexity. And the more complex it is, the chances of things going wrong increases. With the A/T, you're buying the convenience at an extra for a better driving experience.

there are some automatic transmissions that are reliable like toyotas 6at (fwd) hyundai/kia 6at (fwd) fords 6at (fwd) and 6r80(rwd) on the ranger/everest.
so many AT failures in our country because of stupid owners(late atf changes) and bad mechanics.
almost all the atf changes at zix and everest garage is fukcing brown atf wtf...

Kung walang spare tire, invest on a Inflator kaysa sa sealant. Inflate the flat tire +10 psi than...
Liquid tire sealant
