If you're still considering buying an A/T, there are a lot of factors in play here. Are you a careful driver? Is the car known to have reliable A/Ts for that car model and generation? How well do you maintain your vehicles?
Then there's the decision you have to make whether an A/T is worth the extra TCO for the benefits it can provide. It's usually true that convenience adds complexity. And the more complex it is, the chances of things going wrong increases. With the A/T, you're buying the convenience at an extra for a better driving experience.
