Don't mind that engineering failure comment.

If they dont care to ask the proper questions, then that is where their mind will fixate.

Unless a report states it, i would still believe thermal warping/weakening of steel caused by the flames to be the more probable cause. Especially since the fire burned more than 2 hours.

Baka pati yung piers sa magkabilang side ng gumuho eh kailangan din ulitin. Apektado na yung integrity nyan dahil nababad rin sa apoy.

hay, sana matapos pa rin ito this year.

Could be, depends sa assesment ng BFP at civil engineers ng contructor. Sana lang walang "shortcut" or "puwede na yan" attitude.

Looks like spans 2-5 (6 to be checked) including post / columns / pierheads needs to be totally replaced. We'll find out once the DPWH, BFP, and Matiere SAS releases their findings/report to the public.

Anyway, February update from Dim (still photos at the end-portion of the video)

    dmitrivalencia

This is my update no. 72 for the #SkywayStage3 project, thank you for dropping by and watching! Documented between the last day of January and first days of February 2020. Was fortunate enough to document the progress near the area where there was fire before it collapse. It was a sad unfortunate incident and i felt devastated and sad to see the aftermath but as it happens we have to move on with other parts of this massive project moving at a fast pace.

We started the video on section 1 toll plaza of Gil Puyat where you could see developments on the toll plaza A while toll plaza B is quite the same as like the last update.

    • 1:11 - As for the newly opened quirino off ramp , there is an activity along SB just after the junction, a pile boring activity probably for the taft portion of the ramp.
    • 1:51 We made a close up look of the work along Plaza Dilao while more and more girders installed along Section 2A Quirino Avenue portion
    • The nagtahan ramps are taking shape as well
    • 5:36 We also made a close observation on the section 2A Pandacan portion
    • 7:40 - Upon reaching Section 2B we were surprised by the recent developments as it is almost complete then an unfortunately incident happened on February 1, 2020. A fire struck the plastic packing plant which was further escalated by strong winds. A span of Section 2B collapse and other span were damaged.
    • More slabs were placed on San Juan river portion, while the Old San Juan Bridge is almost restored, you could see the prefab parapet installed
    • 16:24 - You can also see the Aurora Blvd - Araneta Avenue portion wherein still no pouring, it might be a delicate procedure since the catenary line is below but there are some slabs installed
    • 16:39 - WE did a close check on the on ramps on section 3 and as well as the off ramp.
    • 17:58 - You could see the vertical clearance of the double deck portion on section 3 beside La Funeraria Paz (for the on and off ramps)
    • 19:39 - Not much has changed the Quezon Ave to Delmonte Segment since it is almost complete.
    • 21:24 - Now this is something! The Manresa - Masambong portion is taking shape shockingly fast! The double deck is very clear now.
    • The girder installation on Sgt Rivera is nearing A Bonifacio and the Pacific Paint area. As for the pouring, it has already passed Damar Village entrance
    • 24:26 - The curve portion near Cherrylume is connected to A Bonifacio portion, as for the C3 Road portion not much except for the columns
    • 25:38 - The developments along A Bonifacio portion of section 5 is wonderful, slabs are in place and pretty soon we will be seeing the contractors connecting the girders above LRT Line 1 and Edsa. You could also see develpments beside the road before Balintawak Interchange.

There are slabs placed along the NLEX Portion. It is wonderful to see these developments. As for the eternal gardens area, the there are rebars in placed for the beams, this probably is the part where the elevated road and ramps separate towards the side of nlex, as you could see near the end preparation for mse? wow!

    Special thanks to
    Mr Mike Ajero
    Engr Leyou De Leña
    Mr Jan Tu

Adhering to vlos protocol , all shots were guided properly within the vlos area
Thank you for watching! Dont forget to like share and subscribe.

SMC Promises to Finish Skyway 3 by July

    #WheelsPH #SMC #Skyway

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) vowed to work double time to make sure that Skyway Stage 3 opens by July this year, despite its contractor’s estimate of eight months to rebuild the portion of the road project that collapsed from a fire at a nearby warehouse in Pandacan, Manila over the weekend.

“We are saddened by this unfortunate incident mainly because it will delay a vital infrastructure project that would have alleviated traffic woes of our motorists sooner. But rest assured, we will work 24/7 to endeavor to complete the entire project in five months. This is just a 3-month delay from the original opening target,” SMC president and COO Ramon S. Ang said.

SMC said its initial investigation showed that the fire was a freak accident that could have likely emanated from the DMCI construction yard that eventually spread to its nearby plastics warehouse, which at that time was in the process of being relocated out of Pandacan.

The relocation is part of the company’s efforts to clear its properties in Pandacan, in consideration of Skyway and future projects. Earlier, SMC completed the removal of subsidiary Petron Corporation’s oil depot facilities in the area.

Opening of Skyway Stage 3 delayed due to damage caused by Pandacan fire | Inquirer News

Medyo kamot ulo ako sa statement ng SMC

“This incident is a reminder to all of us that right of way for all our infrastructure projects should be clear of fire hazards,” said Ang. “We call on the Department of Public Works and Highways to continue to strictly
enforce this to avoid similar incidents from happening.”

medyo kamot ulo naman kami sa statement mo. the SMC development arm, and other private corporations for that matter, kahit meron sila government contracts doesn't have any enforcement rights. that role still rests solely on the shoulders of government agencies.

Smc is the corporation in charge of developing the skyway connector.

Yes, it is true government should obtain right of ways. If the property that caught fire was owned by anyone else, then the statement would have been fine.

But the plastic stockyard that caught fire and did not clear the premises where that section is built is also an SMC subsidiary/company.

So wouldn't the statement of Ramon Ang be like the left hand blaming someone else that they didn't tell the right hand what not to do? But also, that the left hand knows that the live construction site should be "clear" of outsiders as with any construction site.

    Hope that is clear

Also, if in fact skyway didn't yet have the right of way, how were they able to build on private property then? It doesn't add up

Edit : reference where you will find it was also an smc property/company
