Mas pasaway daw ang private cars kaysa PUVs, according to HPG chief. Anong masasabi niyo dito?
PNP-HPG buckles down to work vs. stubborn motorists - DZRH News
Lots of people use those pictures of buses eating into private lanes on EDSA. Eh etong picture na 'to, nasaan yung bus diyan?
We're all part of the problem. The most common violation I see is the utter disregard of the intersection. I try my best to not block the intersection, but I often find myself not being able to move for several minutes as literally noone will give way to you even if you arrived at the intersection prior to them. I end up getting pissed and have to force myself through the intersection (hence being part of the problem as well).
I'm working on keeping my cool no matter how many dozens of cars refuse to give way, but honestly it's so hopeless. Madalas kong naiisip, "what's the point in doing right when all other motorists are so selfish?". I just try to leave earlier and take into consideration the extra time that it'll cost me to follow road rules.
Traffic will flow much smoother when everyone follows the rules, but when only a minority do so, those few people will end up worse off than everyone else.
Already I'm not liking what the HPG's take on traffic is:
From abs-cbnnews.com (quoting ANC) Sept. 11, 2015
My take, the number of apprehensions in 4 days is a pretty small sample size. This is without context regarding when and what time the driver apprehensions took place and for what violations?MANILA - Unruly bus drivers may seem to be the common cause of traffic jams along EDSA but the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (HPG) sees things differently.
Speaking to ANC's Headstart, HPG director Chief Superintendent Arnold Gunnacao said that motorists, particularly private car owners, are harder to discipline than bus drivers on EDSA.
"They want to be ahead of others. That is one of the reasons why traffic congestion occurs because they really want to be ahead of others, and there will come a time that there will be a bottleneck because of their habit of doing that," he said.
The HPG chief said 271 traffic violators were apprehended in the past four days, most of which are private vehicles. He added that cars often swerve and change lanes which contribute to road congestion.
The HPG has already taken over the management of traffic along EDSA instead of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
Gunnacao, meanwhile, defended the MMDA from criticisms that the agency failed in its duty to manage traffic on EDSA. He pointed out there is a difference between cops and constables.
"If you do not have that semblance of authority, the ordinary citizens will not respect you. And, of course, they (MMDA constables) cannot just arrest people. Unlike we, as policemen, we have the police power, we have the semblance of authority...and the right to arrest," Gunnacao said.
Gunnacao said the traffic situation along EDSA has improved since the deployment and implementation of the new traffic measures, adding that "fear and determination" made the road management more efficient.
Kung ikaw ang magsisimula,- walang susunod, and eventually, you drown in the system.... You will never reach your destination and fellow drivers would take advantage of you while cursing you...
Takot kasing mahuli,- at may pera pang penalty.....

agree 100%. as much as possible i follow the rules. when you are doing the right thing you are supposed to feel good. pero sa kalsada pag ginagawa mo ang tama iinit lang ulo mo dahil sasamantalahin ka ng mga demonyo at mumurahin ka pa. tapos madedelay ka pa sa pupuntahan mo dahil sa mga hinayupak
OT: sir yung sa top-left lanuza ba yun? ginawang one-way?
I'd like to see what HPG will do with the private motorists clogging up Ortigas Ave. during LSGH pickup/dropoff hours.
Kung madisiplina nila yung mga inconsiderate na private motorists (mostly drivers, but some parents too), bilib ako. Then perhaps they can deploy more guys to the intersections that clog up often.
Here in Pasig/Ortigas alone I could name dozens of intersections that need officers to reprimand drivers that don't follow the intersection rules. Tama na dapat sa driver manggaling yung kusa through stricter policies on licensing. But as a temporary measure, you can instill discipline by slapping steep fines on erring drivers.
Walanghiya talaga Filipino drivers walang pagasa na traffic dito, sana shoot kill pag meron traffic violators
Disiplina lang talaga. Dapat may online database for driver licenses that is accessible by traffic enforcers. Kapag naka 3 violations (probably those that call for big fines), revoke na lisensiya.

Car owners will be issued with traffic violation tickets and have their driver's licenses confiscated if their vehicles will conk out on EDSA.
"Nasa batas po iyan, responsibilidad po natin na ating siguraduhin na roadworthy ang ating mga sasakyan, mapapribrado o mapapampubliko... Siguraduhin po natin na iyan ay properly maintained... Kapag kayo po ay nasiraan sa EDSA o saan man, kayo po ay [iisyuhan ng] ticket," HPG spokesperson Superintendent Oliver Tanseco told radio dzBB in an interview on Sunday.
The HPG had said that aside from the volume of vehicles, those that conk out and figure in accidents also contribute to the traffic problem on EDSA.
Tanseco said that starting this Monday, the HPG will be "superhigpit" and issue traffic violation tickets from the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
He explained that when a driver is issued with an LTO traffic violation ticket, his driver's license will be confiscated. The license can only be redeemed at LTO office.
The HPG men deployed on EDSA last week used traffic violation tickets from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
The HPG had said that those apprehended from September 7 to 11 for violating traffic rules on EDSA were only given warnings or issued with MMDA traffic tickets.
Tanseco said that 65 HPG personnel have already been deputized by the LTO and 60 more underwent a seminar and took exams on Sunday.
