Balintawak was really traffic-free today, for the first time in forever. No long queue along NLEX leading to cloverleaf as well. Hopefully they maintain this level of order for years to come.

Actually not a single bus was out of line kanina, pero traffic pa rin from Kamuning to Ortigas.

may reinforcement na comming from SAF

20 SAF commandos reassigned to join HPG on Edsa | Inquirer News

As the traffic situation on Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) worsens, some 20 Special Action Force (SAF) commandos will leave the elite police unit to help manage traffic on the country’s busiest thoroughfare.
Some 20 highly-trained commandos will be reassigned to the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP HPG), which had been ordered by President Benigno Aquino III, to take the lead in containing the traffic on Edsa.

I believe a huge reason is because we have such a ratty public transport system.

We tried commuting to and from work for several days and decided that having a car is just much more convenient. My elder daughter would take the MRT from school previously but i had her stop because of the accidents that were happening and not to mention, her security against bad elements (the MRT derailment happened at the time she would usually be riding and my heart stopped when i first got news there was an MRT accident).

I still wish we had a real good rail system from the outlying provinces that will allow us worker bees to hold office in Makati or Ortigas, yet live in Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, or Pampanga and commute daily by train.

IMO, before implementing a vehicle volume reduction scheme on EDSA, they should study the alternate routes and ensure that obstacles and traffic light timing are all in-synch.

they should really put the lrt,mrt back on track first!
    buy more train cars!

if i had my way, i would have thrown into prison, the person or persons responsible for the decline in the number of functioning lrt & mrt cars. they did not do their jobs, even as they received compensation.

no one in his right mind would prefer copd over asthma.
but yess.. prolonged exposure to air pollution predisposes to copd.. asthma is inherited.

I commute during coding days just to keep myself in touch with reality.

^i agree. Di ko magets na more buses yung proposal. Dapat more train cars. Panalo yun elevated iwas baha. Makes more sense than yung mahaba nilang bus imo. Compared to light rail di hamak na masmura at masmabilis ipatayo. I imagine one along ortigas avenue all the way to antipolo in a loop tapos one train every few mins. A lot of birds with one stone imo..

Here are a few things we cant change:
    - arrival of new MRT trains
    - volume of cars on EDSA
    - flooding in MM

All of those can be acted upon by the government, but even an efficient government will take time to get everything in order. And until they do, there's nothing we can do about it. And that's gonna take a long time because of our inept government.

Personally, instead of ranting, I just choose to adjust my mindset - add heaps of patience, try to find alternate routes, adjust my schedule if possible. It's just not worth it stressing over traffic anymore. Getting mad won't make EDSA move any faster, but it could increase your blood pressure and stress levels which makes you more susceptible to cardio problems.

Of course, to each his own. If you think ranting makes the country a better place, or at least allows you to release your stress, then feel free to do so.

we can do something about the flooding in MM. lookit holland!

we may not be able to do something fast to rehabilitate the lrt and mrt, but we we can imprison right away, those responsible for the lrt and mrt degenerations. "economic sabotage.. plunder.."
