By Mike Frialde (The Philippine Star) | Updated September 18, 2015 - 12:00am
MANILA, Philippines - Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista says he is supporting a proposal to prohibit the sale of motor vehicles if the owners do not have garages as one of the possible means to solve Metro Manila’s traffic woes.
However, Bautista, who chairs the Special Traffic Committee of the Metro Manila Council (MMC) told reporters yesterday that public utility vehicles (PUVs) should also be included in the prohibition.
The Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (HPG) made the proposal as the government continues to devise the worsening traffic situation in the metropolis.
Bautista said one of their mistakes as Metro Manila’s leaders was allowing car owners without garages to park along inner streets.
He told reporters at the Manila Yacht Club, where the HPG had its first meeting with the MMC, that the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board could refuse to issue franchises to PUV operators without terminals.
The MMC, the policy-making arm of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), is composed of all the mayors of Metro Manila.

Bautista told reporters that members of the MMC will draw up possible solutions to the traffic mess, including alternative routes based on an earlier proposal and the revival of the 17 identified “mabuhay” or alternate lanes.
Bautista added that the local government units are covered by the 23.8-kilometer stretch of EDSA will also tackle with the HPG contingency measures for the coming Christmas season when vehicular traffic is expected to increase in volume.

Sa ibang village the homeowner can only park a certain number of cars on the street, if you go over, you will pay a fine na. Kaya dapat lang sa public roads bawal.
Our village's deed of restrictions says you cannot park your car outside overnight. My neighbour built his house with a 2 car garage, he has 7 cars, he turned his garage into an extended lounge area and stock room. So, all his 7 cars are sprawled outside his house inconveniencing all of us who have ample parking for our vehicles.
in some areas, "parking on this side only in the morning". after lunch, the owners park on the other side.
at least, they don't get to park their cars on a semi-long-term basis.

Parking and traffic problem. If we had decent public transpo, I would prefer to take the train na lang.

Same thing here in the office,- there is an Expedition that is illegally parked in our employees' assigned space. It has been over a week and the owner cannot be identified.... (and he is not moving the vehicle,- inspite of the notice posted on it)
If nothing happens over the weekend, I told the guard to remove all 4 wheels and sell them with the bakal bote...
Kabanas e,- we are paying for the parking slot....
