Based sa nakita ko kanina, PUV's na galing Quiapo España going to Proj. 6 ay mag U turn sa may tapat ng Philam gate, before Quezon Avenue flyover. Yun naman galing Proj. 6 going to España and Quiapo ay mag u turn pagkalagpas ng SM Annex, halos tapat ng Toyota and QC Academy.

Kudos to the HPG! My usual 2-hour Monday morning travel from Bulacan to Taguig (I pass by Balintawak EDSA and transfer to C5 in Ortigas) was cut down by 30 minutes. Here are some of the things I noticed:

1) Balintawak market has been totally cleared of side walk vendors.
2) U Turn slots along MRT North station were closed. Vehicles who want to make a U-turn need to do so under the Quezon Avenue Flyover.
3) The small opening along the Cubao underpass was closed (this is usually a choke point as city buses tend to unload passengers here)

I believe the HPG are now working on solving Cubao. Sana mag tuloy tuloy na ito.

They should start segrageting the buses further away from the entrance to the Cubao Underpass. The MRT's overhead column were built too close to the entrance and formed a funnel...

Dapat ata hindi lang pagsara ng uturn slots ang ginawa sa trinoma to munoz part ng edsa. Dapat din tinanggal na nila muna yung mga u-turn signs. Nakakalito kasi akala mo may u-turn slot pero wala na pala... Kanina may nakita ako Montero akala niya may u-turn pa sa may paramount eh wala na pala muntik na mabangga. Nasabi ko na lang "rejected!!!"

In fairness nawala trapik sa SM North Edsa. So baka effective din ang pagsara ng u-turn slots.

Ng naging MMDA chairman si Bayani Fernando, inalis yung traffic lights sa mga ilang major intersection along Edsa katulad sa Edsa intersection ng West ave & North ave., Edsa intersection ng Munoz at pinalit yung U-turn slots. At ang tanong gusto mo ba ibalik ang traffic lights dyan?

HPG seeks ban on vehicle purchase without parking space

As part of government's efforts to ease traffic, the head of the PNP-Highway Patrol Group (HPG) on Monday called for a ban on the purchase of vehicles when the prospective buyer does not have a designated parking space.

"It is my recommendation that we should come out with a law providing or prohibiting individuals [from buying or purchasing] motor vehicles without their respective garage," said Senior Supt. Arnold Gunnacao, officer-in-charge of the HPG which is tasked to facilitate traffic management along EDSA.

"We should declare all streets to be no parking zones so the streets will be open for the public," he added.

Gunnacao made the statement during a joint hearing of the Senate committee on economic affairs and committee on public works on Metro Manila's traffic situation.

Senator JV Ejercito, chair of the economic affairs committee, called Gunnacao's recommendation "unpopular" but did not immediately reject it.

"It's an unpopular proposal but actually, practical to solve Metro Manila's traffic problems," Ejercito said.

According to the Chamber of Automative Manufacturers of the Philippines, around 20,000-25,000 vehicles are purchased every month in the country.

Sixty percent of motor vehicle sales come from Metro Manila, the group's president Romel Gutierrez told the Senate hearing.

Crackdown on illegal parking

Also at the hearing, Gunnacao said the police will crack down on illegal parking in order to clear roads in Metro Manila.

He pointed out that they have already began removing illegally parked vehicles in arteries connected to EDSA such as P. Tuazon avenue.

"If all our streets are cleared from illegally-parked motor vehicles, then true enough, there will be smooth road traffic," Gunnacao said.

Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III also called on authorities to ensure that motor vehicles are only parked in designated parking slots or areas.

"The streets that can be used as alternate routes of your proposals, mas maganda pong ideklara niyo no parking. Siguradong luluwag," Sotto said.

Show the kind of trapo mentality our politician are. If it's a practical solution , irregardless of unpopular it is, get it done cause that's the solution. Same thinking as the stupid Abnoy when he said, "cguradong maraming kokontra dito".

Agree. Unahin na nila ung condo mate namin na pulis na walang parking at dami pang sasakyan palaging naghahanap ng bakante visitor's parking o homeowners na nag out of town. Tapos kakutsaba pa ang sekyo tagaturo saan ang hindi ginamit ng mayari. Worse lalagyan ng t-shirt or uniform ng pulis.

Hangga't bulok ang sistema ng LTO i doubt mapapatupad yan. Pati nga MMDA Chairman eh parang di suportado yan kasi malamang maraming ko kontra kesyo may pangangailangan ang mga tao kaya naka Park sa labas. Ano bang klaseng pag iisip yun. Buti pa ang HPG firm sila na yung daan na yun ay para sa lahat so dapat walang nakapark.

yun nga eh, best way to handle this is by simply removing these "obstructions" sa road. kung masikip kalye at marami auto nakaparada, clamp na agad tapos pag tubos, balikan the next day or 2; pag andun clamp ulit hanggang madala. ewan ko nalang kung di madala yan kakabayad ng fine.
