HPG: Drivers whose cars will conk out on EDSA to get traffic tickets

Car owners will be issued with traffic violation tickets and have their driver's licenses confiscated if their vehicles will conk out on EDSA.

The HPG had said that aside from the volume of vehicles, those that conk out and figure in accidents also contribute to the traffic problem on EDSA.

Tanseco said that starting this Monday, the HPG will be "superhigpit" and issue traffic violation tickets from the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

He explained that when a driver is issued with an LTO traffic violation ticket, his driver's license will be confiscated. The license can only be redeemed at LTO office.

The HPG men deployed on EDSA last week used traffic violation tickets from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The HPG had said that those apprehended from September 7 to 11 for violating traffic rules on EDSA were only given warnings or issued with MMDA traffic tickets.

Tanseco said that 65 HPG personnel have already been deputized by the LTO and 60 more underwent a seminar and took exams on Sunday.
