If this were confirmed, then the Fortuner's price has gone up by Php 75K in the past 5 months for no reason! Toyota's making a killing! Then when E-VAT arrives (assuming a 4% tax rate on a Fortuner 3.0V unit at Php 1,553,000), prepare to shell another Php 62K (expect more since this is based on the "old" price). Total price increase in the upwards range of Php 137K!

when driving on downhill sa AT, ok lang ba shift gear sa nuetral ng matagal? mga 2-3 kms distance to save fuel consumption? (1st time kc to drire AT vehicle)

Its dangerous to drive downhill with a neutral gear. You lose engine braking. It will speed up your speedometer. And when you shift back to D, it might over rev due to high speed.
My HU sometimes takes a long time to read MP3 disc. I think its due to disc quality (4 pesos compact disc).

    mga sirs,
nasa pagka burn ng audio and mp3 disc sa computer yan, pagmabilis ang pagka burn ng mga disc nayan usually error 1 ang lalabas sa fujitsu HU ng fortuner and innova. na experience ko na kasi yan sir, so i tried copying the disc in my computer at a slower speed in the cd burner, mga 12x , try ninyo sigurado the HU will read it without any problem.

yup, delikado nga pag sa neutral ang gear mo downhill, be it manual or automatic transmission.....

anyway, ano rin kaya mas maganda (in terms of fuel efficiency and di harmful sa engine/ transmission): during traffic (about 15 seconds nakahinto):
    1) shift to P position (+ brakes)?
    2) shift to N position (+ brakes)?
    3) stay at D with brakes engaged?
one of the above daw kasi is harmful to the transmission as it will not allow oil circulation. di ko lang alam kung alin. baka nakaligtaan ko rin basahin sa manual......

BTW, magaganda benta ni miggy boy na accessories for the fortuner. pati yung mga benta nila motorcycles OKs na OKs din.....

hector_angel, i think the 2nd choice (shifting to N) would be the best choice..for me ha? at least you just shift it downwards go na..pag P masyadong matagal to get to D right away. pag nasa D + brakes naman, baka mapudpod kaagad brake pads...

To D or not to D

This is the most commonly asked question by owners of automatic cars: “Should I put the lever to N, or leave it in D while waiting at traffic light junctions?” The answer is, leave it in D and use the brakes to hold the car at a standstill. All modern automatic gearboxes are designed to cope with this, so there is no unnecessary wear and tear on the mechanical components.

Frequently shifting from D to N and vice versa, however, puts strain on the gearbox and its electronically controlled solenoids. In the long run, this may result in premature failure of some components, and a hefty repair bill. It’s also a common misconception that holding the car with the brakes leads to additional wear and tear on the braking parts. Since the car is stationary, there is no friction between the pads and discs, so there is no extra wear.

Many drivers of manual cars like shifting to neutral and letting the car coast to a halt when the traffic lights ahead are red. Not only is this practice dangerous as all engine braking is lost (making the car less stable if sudden braking is required), fuel consumption also goes up. Modern fuel-injected cars have a fuel cut-off system that operates only when a gear is engaged and the foot is taken off the accelerator pedal. If the car is rolling along in neutral, fuel still needs to be pumped into the engine to keep it idling, so more fuel is actually used.

    Hope this helps......
