We shelved the project. The direct cost (liner + fastener) will come out to over P200. At this price baka wala nang bumili kasi to everyone's eyes this is only a piece of plastic so why should it cost over P200.- ?Originally Posted by vicoyski
The only material available in Binondo is PVC (poly-vinyl-chloride) which costs P120/kilo. 1 roll is 45ki. with 24" width and 100m length - the bad part is the available thickness is only 0.2~0.5mm. (tooo thin). For the liner, we need at least 2.0mm.
I was hoping *allenjo's friend with the plastic factory can spare some scraps which we may be able to use (para libre na yung material) so we just share in the cost of the mold and pay the vacu-form outfit per press made.
So far, dead end - no material available. The big plastic factories are buying up all the available supply of PE and HDPE in the market.
I think very reasonable pa rin kung below P500 per piece. Kung set of 4 wheel well covers, around P2T...Originally Posted by jaeger

Please check - this might not be accurate. In my Innova, the ECU (Engine Control Unit or computer box) is located way above the cabin floor. It's inside the dashboard, placed beside the passenger side A-pillar behind the glove box. Next to it is the blower fan assembly of the aircon.Originally Posted by number001
Since the Fortuner shares the same IMV design philosophy, your ECU might be in the same place. You can flood your cabin up to a foot deep with water and your ECU will still be above it. However, you may have sensors slaved to the ECU which are mounted in the engine/tranny very low and these sensors may short when submerged.
You can easily locate your ECU - Just use a flashlight and peek behind the glove box from under the dash - it's a metal box the size of a hard disk drive with lots of wires plugged into it and there's a big sticker on its side with the label "ENGINE CONTROL" . If you spot it - that's it.
This is what is typically inside an ECU:

I quoted the magazine article verbatim. TOPGEAR Philippines Nov 2005 page 57.
Jaeger:
I am running a Belgian thermoforming company here in Laguna. I use a lot of APET (0.3 - 1.1 mm thickness). some HDPE (1 mm x 560 mm) and Polystyrene ( max 1.8 mm thick x 540 mm wide - Green). What do you exactly need to explore this?
I cant withdraw from my stocks (i might be accused of using my authority for personal gain) but I usually can get a few kilos of sample from the a supplier. A meter of Polystyrene in the size I gave is about 1.05 Kilos. I would have offered my toolshop but its not ethical : )
Suppose you can make this, how are you going to produce the volume without material supply? Even my company imports everything. : (
Re wheel well cover, if we could have a survey/order list so that we can help the "manufacturer" in computing his profit margin, say, for this number of orders, how much must he sell the cover. Also to assure him of the demand, at least, from the members of this forum.
We've got 30 confirmed Fortuner owners here in this thread. I'm sure all of them would be interested.

That's precisely our problem - no materials supply, so we shelved it. Will your company accept small quantity sub-con jobs? The mold should be available so lower yung product development cost. Honestly, I don't know where to start - someone's got to offer his Fortuner so we can make a paper mache mold which we can use to make a wood or metal master mold from which to thermally press the HDPE into.Originally Posted by Pilgrim
If we had the Thai part then we can just resin-cast the mold. The methods we use are very basic - just following scale modelling vacu-form molding principles.
