BTW, Toyota Makati and Bicutan are honest dealers of course since they are owned by Toyota. They will never demand any add-ons from you. Depending on the agent, some may ask for a downpayment for you to be placed in the "list"(yeah right what list?) and some wont require any down to include you in it. The downside, your reservation will take months and months, if not a year to process. The sales agents there wont be calling you for months on end, with any sort of updates or news at all. It is in your interest to keep on pestering them daily and let them know you are still alive.

On the other hand, if you go to the other dealers, the only recourse to get a unit is by accepting-or more like swallowing-their preposterous offer to you of lots of accessories or add-ons (tv,dvd,leather seats,gsm alarm,etc),insurance, and financing+chattel mortgage, which can all inflate the sticker price by Php250,000+. No that's not a joke or exaggeration. A dealer just quoted me that two days ago. All I can say is -go to hell-.

The 3.0 D4-D does not have the bad reputation (underpowered and the "problem") of the 2.5 D4-D. Its too bad Toyota did not release a 3.0 D4-D in 4x2 form. The 3.0 D4-D 4x4 just cost way too much to justify the cost,otherwise I would have gone for it. Btw, the difference is about Php 305,000 when compared to the 2.7 vvti.

Don't get confused about technical issues (D4D) and personal issues (financial capability, choice of vehicle, no. of vehicles owned, etc). It is most prudent and sensible not to extrapolate your anti-D4D sentiments into other people's personal matters and taste. If you have grievances against the D4D, channel it appropriately, and not get personal and just step into other people's toes. Just a reminder.

Hi number001! It seems you are bent on making a well informed decision... Good for you!

My officemate has a 2.7G. In terms of power, it's almost the same as a 3.0V. The difference in their HP ratings is nearly negligible. But, the 2.7G, of course, has a lighter curbweight. One thing I like about the 2.7G is that it's a lot quieter. What would you expect from a petrol engine?

We haven't really compared the performance of our vehicle in terms of steep inclines. But, based on the figures, the 2.7G will be revving high in order to achieve the torque needed to overcome steep inclines. The 3.0V being a diesel workhorse will achieve high torque at a lower RPM. So, at steep inclines, the 3.0V will have some advantage (especially on a slippery incline, since it's 4x4).

If you don't really need 4x4, the 2.7G (VVTi) is the best value for money there is...

Hi, i'm using an V variance, i came from an 03 trooper.

take off wise, the trooper gave a more powerful response, say 10-20%. but the trooper doesnt have a top end or whatever you call it. after 140 kph it becomes slower to accelerate, but with the Fortuner, 4 kame sa car, easy un 170 kph at skyway (2 AM).

the same with uphill, the Trooper has more edge. but maybe it's because the fortuner is 4x4 & the Trooper is 4x2? by the way, i change the tires for both my unit from 265/70/16 to 275/70/16 AT. with the trooper it did not have any loss in take off but w the Fortuner, the loss is obvious.

i'm also curious with the 2.7 VVTi 4x2 Fortuner as it almost has similar HP but with a lower Torque. i was thinking maybe it being a 4x2 might compensate from lack of load.

Btw, pls give your opinion on the shocks of old man.

I left my unit on a Friday and got it on a Monday. It stayed at Toyota Bicutan for the weekend. I guess, in your case, the length of stay at the service dealer will also depend on how many and which specific panels need to get painted.
