Correction:

I was reviewing the photos of the installation of my Peripheral and PIE interfaces. I didn't see pala the rear of the Fortuner's OEM HU. What I recalled as having a Subwoofer RCA OUT was the Kenwood OEM HU of my CRV (which I had a PIE interface installed). Sorry... You'll have to have the rear of the Fortuner OEM HU checked to see for sure that there is a Subwoofer OUT.

good pm po mga kuya. anybody noticed smelling something burned when going over 120kph? it only shos up when i reached speeds around 110 to 120 or more. i think it has something to do with my transmission. i have a 2.7 vvti with a 3500km in the odo. is this smell normal for new units on highspeeds? ngayon ko lang kasi na try mag over 110kph ever since i got it.

Pre check your gear maybe its on d3 not d4 coz mine 2.7 vvti run 17+kph at 38++ rpm.. no problem....

Also experience the same at high speed. I am sure it comes from the aircon.

my tint is 3m dark in front n super dark on all windows xcept the windshield,
i've change my dim n bright with raybrig n polarg, n didnt changed the fog lamp. but i noticed that the fog lamp is more clearer than the one that with raybrig n polarg coz of its kelvin...

Did you change the sockets to ceramic din? or ceramic na ang nasa Fortuner?

Just came back after spending the whole day at Tagaytay, the fortuner was a blast to drive, averaged 9.5 km/lit this time. Saw close to 10 fortuners parked along the restaurants near yellow cab pizza. I'd like to improve the performance of my original head unit, what should I install? I want it to have more power and "substance". Thanks in advance guys.

Did you try changing the presets to "van"? This setting at least firm-up the sound together with some readjustments on bass and treble.

i tested this kanina sa SLEX. i turned off the aircon 10 mins before i sped to 120kph. tas nangamoy pangkulot nga. so i conclude that it isnt the aircon

Hmmm... Mukhang marami dito ang sanay magpa-kulot at alam amoy ng pang-kulot ah...

But, seriously, have that checked... Why is it so common? Sa VVTi variants lang ba? What about the D-4Ds?

here are some mock-ups of my h/k. i plan to have the wire dangling from the display pass thru the uppermost corner slot of the aircon vent. tried it above the rearview mirror pero nakaka-duling . for the control i might drill a small hole for a cleaner look.

Confirmed nga na may smell. I remember smelling it also the 1st and 2nd time I breached 160kph. Never smelled it since then, 'coz I mostly maintain a speed of 100kph and below for fuel economy purposes.

If the smell is common in both the D-4D & VVTi variants, hindi yan sa engine. Might be coming from the wheel wells. But, why is the smell wafting through to the cabin?

*sean jedi: You can actually route the H/K wire through the dash and inside the center console. Madali bunutin by hand yun dashboard cover surrounding the HU and the Climate Control Unit. You can hide the H/K brain under the HU behind the dashboard.

Interesting suggestions about the display placement and wiring via the aircon vent. I pulled the dashboard cover to check out the wiring route and it's a relatively simple setup -- from the vent, the wiring can pass through behind the dashboard to the HK brain.

I finally moved my display from the left side to the center dashboad.

I also moved the joint connection of the the display to the top-most screw point so that the display be placed lower to further hide the wire.

Anyone found this on the manual or knows what the "black button" on the dashboard is (near the front vents) -- there's wire that leads to it underneath.

am worried that condensation might build up inside the screen with part of the aircon vent partially blocked.(from your pics, the first slot is blocked). try what i did. better a little wire showing than ruining your display
