The older Hi Ace Commuter with 2.4L diesel already fast enough and does accelerate pretty well even with full seating capacity.
With the new Hi Ace GL Grandia with the newer diesel engine tech, I would pressume this would perform better (pulling power and speed) over its predecessor.
But then again this type of vehicle is not meant for racing, but for people hauling.
For family use, I would settle for APV over the Hi Ace GL Grandia.
With the current price tag of the Hi Ace I can buy 1 high end of APV and 1 low end of APV... hahaha

...truly grand, the grandia though boxy looks spacious. and yes, it seemed safety has been taken in to consideration here. abs and airbags. of course, if one has to drive the grandia, you can bring it up to cruise speed but no abrupt maneuvering it is still a van nonetheless. yes, the abs is a great idea especially when you have your kids in tow, going places.

Saw a white HI-Ace yesterday along Roxas Blvd., at first glance I thought it was an American minivan then I saw the "Toyota Manila Bay". It was huge and wide, but the tires are skinny, hehehe.

That's what he actually did. He also retrofitted an eps to his 1970s era beetle. Btw, now...
