went to Tagaytay yesterday and just got home a few hours ago, my ForesterX will have its first birthday on the 20th. of November and it was my first time to bring it there. I didn't expect to have that enough power to pull up but it surprised me. Having 4 adults and luggages, it still feels smooth. I would definitely use it more than our Grandia when I go up to Tagaytay again.

This is the 1st time i've heard of this, so far wala pa naman nag rereklamo sa scp and subarusociety.

I agree with ForesterX... Unless yung SH5 nayan, ay nag pa tune at hindi maayos ang break-in and na over gunnit ang mayari... kaya kumatok ang makina...

    Hi guys, am new here

Hope you can help me decide...
Need to purchase a vehicle by end June or possibly early July this year...
The vehicle will be doing 1500km/month in the city, not owner driven most of the time. It'll be sending my son to school, daughter to work and grad school, and picking them up later... it'll send and pick up my wife every now and then for her grocery runs and mall trips.

I've been reading a lot through several forums, and i think i've narrowed my choices down to:
    1. santa fe
    2. forester xt
    3. sorento

Both korean cars sporting the crdi variant. Am only 15% of the time in the country, well at least until the time i don't need to be on expat wages anymore...

Initially, a 7-seater was a MUST, but after my wife saw the forester XT, it became a WANT only. She knows nil about the power/handling of the XT but was just impressed at the build and stance. She was the one who eliminated the fort, monty, cx7, crv, rav4, orlando, sportage etc from our huge list of potentials. She's just asking me about the annual costs to operate and maintain - any help would be appreciated.

If we ever get the FXT, i'd just feel a bit jealous with the hired-help who'll be strutting around town with it 85% of the year

if driver driven don't get an xt, baka pag na hatid na mga anak at asaw mo at siya na lang mag isa sa kotse ihataw hataw lang niya yan at ma bunggo pa. i've seen that happen lots of times with cars much slower than the XT, pano pa kaya sa XT with lots of power.

if driver driven best would be the santa fe for me, since it has the most leg room on the back.

I agree with ForesterX.. Don't get the XT if driver driven lang.. You can always get the NA version. At least mas matipid siya. Or tama din, get the new Santa Fe... I'm using my Santa Fe if I am bringing my driver otherwise I drive the Forester myself.

Santa Fe diesel would be the better bet given your options. Its nice and not totally wasted if you're mainly having the hired driver take the helm most of the time. Perhaps the new Santa Fe will also be out by that time. Just get the Forester XT or a Lexus RX450h when you will be the one driving, or your wife and children.

As what most will tell you, dont just base it on the showroom experience, go out and test drive your prospects.

    Other Suggestion:
Bottom line is its turning into a passenger ferry (with people riding in the back mostly). Since it will be taking a beating of 1500km city a month why not consider the new mid to TOTL Innova as a cost effective solution... Probably not up to spec in the looks department but should fit the purpose and not a total waste to turn into a daily beater. Up keep should also be pretty cheap vs your original choices. With the price of fuel being what it is, getting a guzzler is not a great idea. You can also remove the last row to make it lighter and provide more space.

Thanks for the replies foresterx, imperialv, and lobudget... can't agree more with you guys...
My wife and son test drove the forester xt today and it seems my wife still can't get rid of the smile off her face yet

Am doing some calcs and would just like to know if my assumptions are anywhere near the truth.
    Santa Fe * 8km/li and Forester XT * 5km/li...

Deym! The monthly fuel cost (Php) difference is quite HIGH!

that's normal for a turbo gas engine. fyi the 2.0 forester has about the same fc as the XT, so if you're planning to get the 2.0 instead because of the high fc of the XT think again.

I get 6.6km/l on my xt. Am using petron xcs. Pag blaze gamit ko, nasa 5.5 lang. I believe this is at par with most most xuvs in this segment like the crv and xtrail. Of course ibang usapan if you will compare it with diesel engine suvs

Pag driver lang gagamit, better get the 2.0. Sensitive kasi yung turbo ng 2.5. Baka masira pag hinataw ng hinataw. When you drive the xt, you cant really help to speed up. Ang sarap kasi ihataw.

Just have them test drive the RX450h or even the RX350! Though not in your options throw in a test drive of the Range Rover Evoque. Too bad there arent any stocks of the 2012 Explorer handy, but they can try to catch the off road test drive at the MIAS at the end of March.
