On a side note, visited Orange Performance yesterday to see if there's anything I could do to improve the performance of my ride. Had a good discussion with Dominique, the owner of the place. He was kind enough to give me a crash course on tuning and even diagnosed my XT's engine for me. As it turns out, the engine wasn't very happy with the fuel currently in the tank. The ECU was telling the engine to compensate for low octane fuel (below the minimum 95 octane required by the engine) by adjusting a bunch of parameters and degrading performance a bit. In fact, it was surprisingly close to going into limp mode. I wasn't expecting this to happen since I only fill up with S***l V-P*w*r at the station along C5.

Petron along EDSA near Greenhills supposedly has good quality fuel according to him. Will give it a try after i run down my tank.

Whoah. Cool! The country's first 10m race! hehehe. Kahit sa parking lot puwede. Pero OKS lang, I'd find out din naman when I test drive. Tanong ko lang, meron pa ba yung zip interest 1 year to pay? Puwede din ba yun sa 2.5 o sa 2.0 lang talaga?

I think the best feature of the Forester is its massive engine. You only have small spaces on the sides under the hood. This SUV is not standing tall but surely with less weight and a turbocharged engine siguradong ang lakas ng hatak nito.

Its rivals such as the X3, CRV, Escape and Rav4 are more of a beauty pagent, but this forester is not. I guess its an ugly duckling, but a mean at that..

I might want to go to Subaru's showroom at greenhills to find it out myself.

Forester = 8.1 (inches) (XT = 7.9)
RAV4 = 7.5
CR-V = 7.3
Outlander = 8.3
Escape/Tribute = 8.2
CX7 = 8.1
X3 = 8.0

so there, the ugly duckling can swim with the best of them.

yup, medyo maselan nga sa fuel sya. premium only for me...pero ang mahal! :sad: but it's worth it.

i already know how this meeting is gonna play out. siguradong talo mo sya sa 10m race cos the FXT has a pretty bad turbo lag. di ko lang alam if it's better now with the tiptronics, pero sa 4EAT the lag is quite long. pero pag sumipa yung turbo, watch out.

The only Subaru showroom is along EDSA, a few meters after Annapolis St., Greenhills. It's right beside Ford and they have a big sign up front so you can't miss it. The SRP for the 2.5XT is Php1.67M. I believe it's the most expensive of the three but you'll see why after your test drive.

No matter which of the three you finally decide to get, you will be getting a good vehicle. Your choice will boil down to personal preferences.

Ok naman so far. Aside from a squeaking sound behind the sunroof, I love this car. Bringing it back to the dealer next week so they can get rid of it.

I have a small family (wifey and 5 month baby) so I have no regrets getting this over another very nice car, the Sta. Fe.

Talking about how fun the FXT is, I already have 1,450km after 13-days (going up Vigan for the Holy Week then Calatagan for after that). I read somewhere that a guy even offers to drive his mom-in-law around just so he can have an excuse to bring out the FXT. Now I know the urge.....

Talking about how rare the Forester is... saw one at Vigan (2.0) then one coming back at the NLEX. That's it 2 units the whole 1,450 km.

The first 1,100 km check-up, the mechanic at MotorImage did some bolt tightening at the door lock-hinges, secured the cargo bar better, new synthetic oils, checked all fluids.

Only got a 40k discount for the FXT. Had to be firm that they take care of the CTPL (initially they only took care of the LTO but not CTPL) plus a key chain as a token.
