Congrats on your ride and making the right choice hehehe

Oddly enough, I know what you mean - for some reason, I "feel" the road imperfections more in our forester than in the monty (and I had brought down the psi already to 30 as well) - I also think it has something to do with the wheel size....

But when I ask rear seat passengers about the ride, they always prefer the forester, which leads me to doubt my own observation...

Uhh, a stupid question - but anyone know how to adjust the sound settings of the forester audio system? I've been tinkering with it for some time now, but can't seem to get more bass...and yes, I'm a tad lazy to look at the manual...but I guess I ll have to if need be....

yes. that is exactly how to describe it. mas feel ang road imperfections. feel at ramdam talaga ang bagsak pag nalubak especialy when ur at speed.

and one thing lsdgenie are we in agreeing terms to say na mas pasok ang noise particularly when its not so smooth concrete road?

for comfort, i usually inflate it around 28. magiinflate pa ng konti yan pag uminit on the road.
28? isn't that dangerous/impractical? it will generate excess heat, accelerating wear and increasing fuel consumption. mas mabuti atang sundan na lang yung recommended pressures sa may pinto ng driver.

Puwede pa yang 28 basta early morning reading at hindi pa nagagamit. Factory is 30-32. So hindi pa malayo masyado. Baba kunti lang naman sa FC at tires mas madali nga mapalitan.

    - Well, iniiwasan ko talaga ang mga lubak (bago pa kasi eh hehehe), but even over small imperfections, i can feel it through the wheel....road noise however seems normal for a car in its class...I test drove a RAV4 and rode in my cousins ASX (almost got it, but the forester had it beat in trunk space, and some goodies).

    - Yup, thats another weird one - the drivers seat has adjustments for height, but the front passenger one doesn't.

    - Hmmm, never really observed this, the HID lowbeam lights seem fine for me....what car did you drive before? Were the lights modified?

Overall though, I'm very happy with the car (my wife loves the visibility it gives), and find myself more and more a convert to the Subaru legion.

Hello ry tower, my sa told me its ok for to inflate 28 on the front and 30 at the back on long trips.

As for the bass, asa setup lang yung treble and bass adjustment.

As for the lights, yes. It's a little low. I think you can adjust it manually.

Oh, and yung cover sa likod, nagccause din siya ng kalampag.

yup the lights can be adjusted manually, or you can go to MI and they'll adjust it for free. medjo mababa nga ang tutok ng lights.

bro try riding as a front passenger and back passenger and have some one drive it for you, i'm sure by then you'll see the difference.

Vehicles like the Subaru Forester were really designed so that you can "feel" connected with the road for better driving experience. Most SUVs, pickups and vans would "feels" detached / disconnected from the road.

    Hello oro10,

Better get the 2011 fxt. Bukod sa higher resale value when you sell it, same engine lang naman as the '09-'11 plus new optitron guage. I've read that there's no sub woofer in it ( don't know if this is just for the 2.0 or pati fxt) and medyo maliit daw yung side mirrors compared sa old models. Lastly no discount on '11 models. Other than that wala naman ng cons ang '11. Hope it helps. Goodluck!

get the 2011 na, the extra features makes it better than the 2010. the sub woofer isn't really a huge loss since it isn't that nice anyway.

Aside from commnents posted by looks2008, the price & features list that was given out during the MIAS indicates that everything, including price is the same except for:
    1. 2011 has new grille design and new instrument cluster.
    2. Sound system and HU has been changed for 2011. 2010 has 6-disc in-dash HU, aux in jack, 6 speakers. 2011 has 1-disc in-dash HU, i-pod connectivity, 4 speakers. I don't know how this affects quality, but I guess those who've already purchased the 2011 model would be in the best position to answer.
Personally, I'd go for the '11 model unless there are huge discounts on the 2010.

As summarized by previous posters, the differences between the 2010/11 fxt are pretty minor, and subject to your personal tastes - I personally prefer the 2010 gauges compared to the 2011, and prefer the old side mirrors...but I do like the new front grill better. On paper, the 2010 sound system has the edge though.

However, I believe it'll boil down to what you consider to be more important - re-sale value (although IMHO, given that the facelift wasnt too radical, it shouldn't be that great a diff) or the savings you can get now (and yes, there is a substantial discount on the "2010" model).

How substantial are the discounts on the 2010 models?
