Does anyone use fuel not from the big three on their Subbies, like the Seaoil Extreme?
I think sir according to subaru there might be a slight performance hit if you use 95ron instead of 98ron. I believe this is true for most modern high compression engines that requires premium fuel like the turbo xt, but im no expert Whether the engine is tuned for Ph settings though, that i do not know. I am more inclined to think that maybe they just arent sure of what they are saying, i mean based from my conversations with my agent marami sya sinasabi na mali. And i think ganon din experience ni sir cfule, na mas marami pa sya alam sa agent nya about the car. So maybe they werent briefed or trained very well sa new forester?

In any case for me ok lang kasi i plan on using 95ron lang tlga. As long as walang fuel economy hit, minor performance hit is fine with me.

Have read good things about seaoil extreme din, interested to know as well if any subie owners have tried this?

The driver explained to them about the shortage of plates and even shows them a memo from the LTO that the dealer provided about said plate shortage. They just told him: "Makati to boy. Iba patakaran dito" Gotta love the cops from the Republic of Makati.
Not sure about makati now, but when i was driving a new car few years back, hinuli ako sa makati because yun ending daw ng conduction sticker ko ang ginagamit sa coding. On other days, pinapalusot naman. So i guess they did follow the conduction sticker rule before. Ewan ko lang ngayon kung ganon pa rin.

I honestly see it as a waste of money. I have a buddy who puts in 100 RON Blaze into his unmodified early 90s Honda Civic. Upon reading up on Blaze I found out it had no ethanol so I am thinking it will protect older cars from corrosion caused by ethanol.

Up to now I can still see a lot of white conduction cars with no plates and they arent being pestered, even in Makati.
It isnt about the documentation or whatnot. It is about the hassle & waste of time interacting with these people. Time is money and any distraction from your ultimate goal is wasted time.

hi everyone, am new here and anticipating to get my subaru forester 2.0i next week as well. not sure if this has been discussed before (or probably just a stupid question since i'm a newbie), the automatic folding side mirrors of the forester - can this be manually folded/opened? or it has to be done electronically?

What model is the new forester 2.0i-L? 2013 or 2014?

What brand of gasoline would you recommend for this model?

I fully agree, but if kotong boys are hungry then they will always invent some reason to pull you over.

Seaoil Extreme is cheaper than Petron XCS, if I remember correctly if not the same price. I agree the Blaze is probably a waste, but yeah older cars cant take the 10% ethanol. There was an article in the papers a few days ago discussing the evils of ethanol and why we shouldnt vote for the people that scripted it, because we are now paying for more expensive gas because the price of ethanol from local producers is more expensive than importing it. Also that a lot of older engines cant take it. Anyway more about that in the other section of the forums.

I rather put our money to homegrown fuel than pay a Sheik's new supercar. Brazil has one of the lowest costs of fuel today because they have decided to source their fuel requirement through local channels.

In the short term mahal but in the long term it'll help.

I'll use any brand so long as it matches the car's requirement. Anything convenient to get to or cheap.

    Was able to get 10.8L/100KM.

Full tank 550KM. Good enough from MI EDSA to Sorsogon City.

sir how long did you drive to get 10.8L/100kms? i can also get that FC on SLEX only or on a hiway at night without traffic. I even got 9.5L/100kms I cannot sustain it for long though day to day driving, 17L/100kms or around 5.5kms/L. already had 3 full tanks with that FC.

The ceiling for breaking in is 4,000 RPM per user manual. 300KM and we're done.

Funny part is still no LTO plates.

Hi guys. I'm thinking of getting this 2014 forester. The 2.0i-L variant. What sort of deal did you get from your dealer? I'm sure walang discount since new model, but meron bang mga freebies at least?

Also, my budget is only for the 2.0i-L, but after seeing the XT version, I felt na bland na yung base model haha! Please convince me na ok na din yung base model. I don't really care for the turbo and the added HP, but the missing sunroof, stereo, bells and whistles ang nagpapasama ng loob ko hehe. So, if you can, please convince me na hindi worth yung 500K premium if i don't really need the turbo :D

That extra 500k is really payment for the direct injection turbo, maybe 100k out of the 500k is for the sunroof. Do you really need the sunroof? It could just be a source of additional maintenance cost in the future.

I'm also considering the forester 2.0i L against the XV.

    Cheers

Minor annoyances that Motor Image did to the 2014 2.0 N/A vs. the 2012 model. Deleted Sunroof, Deleted dual exhaust, Downgraded digital dual climate controls (its back to analogue). I maybe asking too much, but if M.I. also included the small screen/monitor on the dash then it would be really swell. But then again, there would be little differentiation bet. the higher profit margin XT. IMO, the front bumper and wheel design on the 2.0 N/A looks better than XT, IMO.

What I don't like about the 2014 XT - No hood scoop (this is a signature of XT and STi- the next gen STi will get a hood scoop), powerlift gate, front bumper (reminds me of Voltes V or some kind of robot.)

Since I just got a Forester last year, I will wait for a facelift (The front end really needs it.) on this one. (no offense to owners.)

What sort of added maintenance cost can the sunroof entail in the future? Is it easily broken ba? Or madali mag leak? Parang ang sarap lang kasi byumahe and mag road trip ng may sunroof and maliwanag sa loob ng cabin

I guess the rubber gasket will deteriorate esp. if you park under the sun all the time.

I have never traveled during the day with the shade open, let alone with it slide open. It is really hot (even with tinting) to use during the day. Use it on overcast, raining or at night.

IMO, Sunroof is really novelty item that has very little use or practicality in our tropical weather. But its nice to have it though just for the heck of having it.
