Hey guys, i think i went a little too excited and may have stepped a little too much on the gas on my FXT while still in break in. Noticed a burnt rubber/asbestos kind of smell from the engine bay afterwards nung nakapark nako (engine still on), then gradually nawala rin. Is this normal?

Yep, that smell which is like from a hair dryer when you floor hard the accelerator. It will eventually go away.

Thanks sir. By the way, any tips for break in? Its long been debated whether to push it hard or to baby the engine prior to manufacturer set number in the odo, for the FXT ive been informed that its 1600KM. In my older NA cars, drive it like you stole it seemed to do the trick, but for the FXT mejo alangan ako since Im quite new to direct injection and turbocharged engines.

If this is the case, the car may not have gone thru a regular PMS or change oil. The Forester SJ requires low viscosity FS oil for its engines.

Coil & valve spring recall. Check your VIN w/ the dealership.

Malas naman nung friend mo. That steering rack problem should have been covered by warranty. Also, 35k for brake pads is just crazy.

It was your friend’s fault that his tranny had a leak. Subarus are good for light offroad use. Don’t expect it to perform like those dedicated offroad vehicles.

I changed my brake pads at Autoplus using Project Mu pads and it was less than 3k. I think it was around 30k km on the odometer. Motor Image was changing me around 7500 for the stock pads. I bought Bosch rear pads in the US for around 1k but the rear pads don’t need replacement yet.
