    Hi all,

    Now that there's an increasing number of posters in this sub-forum, I propose that we list down the common problems we experience with our Subbies. This should exclude: (a) all regular PMS costs - e.g. change oil, filters, parts which have to be changed due to wear and tear and (b) those caused by accidents, collisions etc.

    I think we can include some work done during PMS or other times if the change/repair/replacement occurs earlier than most cars - e.g. rotors which are damaged even if replaced by warranty, replacing power steering mechanisms, belts if done early in a car's life (for example, my RAV4 is more than 8 years and 80,000 kms old and this has never been done).

    I hope this does not end up to be a "scare" thread, which will discourage potential owners, but a way for us to anticipate problems, propose solutions and save up on potential gastos.

    * 10k kms <- refaced front rotors for free, wiggling when braking.
    * 30k kms <- Ball Joint Assembly = P4,606
    * 40k kms <- V-Belt (ac and alternator belt)
    * 50k kms <- power steering control valve *P26,468 + Stabilizer bushings + Steering Rack repair kit * P2,094

    Impreza 2.0R 2008 M/T

    Thanks for this! Most of the posters here have new cars, so it's always good to get posts from those who have driven more than 5,000 kms

    Re: power steering issue

    I've seen a few other owners in the subaru forums (scp and subysoc) post about power steering issues as well, starting from about 3 years onwards or around 30,000 kms. Php 30-35,000 up ang usual damage inclusive of labor.

    Is your car already using the electronic power steering system or hydraulic? I think the 2012 models already have the EPS. Wonder if this problem will still hold true for the newer models.

    V-Belt

    How much for the V-Belt, if you can recall?

    Also, from the mileage, is it safe to assume that your car is a daily driver?

    Good thread!

    Istan were you tracking the car? 10T KM is early for a rotor reface.

    AR, hope you are right about the EPS for 2012 units.

    I drive calmly, usually under 2.5k rpm, mostly under 2k rpm. Daily driven sya.

    Hydraulic power steering ang akin.

    * 40k kms = P36,020 <- PMS + all the fluids (atf, engine oil, gear oil, coolant) + Front Brake Kit + V-Belt (ac and alternator belt) + labor at P4k

    Mga P12k ata yun V-Belt.

    * desmosedici
    10T km for rotor reface was early, but I can't take the shuddering when braking. After the reface, no more shuddering until now at 52k kms.

    I think it would be nice too if the poster indicates whether the unit was driven hard or calmly

    Hi! New to the forums and this thread. No one has posted in this thread for a while, but I'd like to contribute my own experience. Bought my XV 2.0i Premium CVT last April 30 and took it home May 1, 2014. Last Saturday, the computer started flashing "Change Engine Oil," "Change Oil Filter," "Time for Maintenance" which alarmed me. I brought it in to the casa the other day and it turns out they forgot to reset the computer before releasing. Just a tip for new Subaru owners, if your unit has a computer, make sure they reset it before giving it to you.

    Also, some reviews say that the side mirror of Subaru (passenger side) has a curve that makes it not ideal for merging situations compared to other vehicles' side mirrors. I always check my blind spots anyway and am extra cautious, but what are your thoughts on this issue?

    I've been driving my XV for just a week and I'm hearing rattling, squeaky sound all around. I'll be bringing my car back to tighten all the screws. It sounds like that's the problem. I love the car but I'm a bit disappointed...

    Whoa, that is really disappointing, ha. I would feel the same if I were in your shoes. Which Subaru dealer did you buy from? Ako naman ang naging issue after one week was the computer because they forgot to reset it before they released it to me. So after a week it was asking me to chnage engine oil and sched for maintenance service na. They reset it sa casa and so far no other issues. I hope. It's been 24 days since I've driven my XV.

    Update: brought my car to fort for check up on the sounds, but when I took it out, the sounds were still there and I think I'm hearing more sounds now than I did before. It's really annoying! And what's worse, there's also a loud spring sound and another sound that sounds like it's coming from the bottom of the car that happens once or twice a day. I'm trying to pin point at what driving condition it happens but there doesn't seem to be a pattern. I'm not sure what it is but it doesn't sound normal. I will need to bring it back in to the CASA for the second time in a span of 3 weeks, with Only less than 400km ran. Would anyone know what the problem is? I don't know how I'm going to explain in the CASA and the noise might not come out when they test drive the car.

    Which CASA do you guys suggest I go to. Is Fort a good one? Or would it be better in Greenhills?

    Btw since Subaru is AWD, it cannot be towed the usual way (dragging behind on rear wheels). It has to be carried on top of a truck. If it gets towed via rear wheels, sorry, sira na ang Subaru mo. Katakot takot na paayos na yan. Make sure never to take risks in parking your Subaru.

    yung akin during the first month nya ive been hearing squeaking noise sa likod. what i did was record the noise by placing the recorder near the suspected location and then i paparinig ko sa casa sana when i go. fortunately nawala kaya di ko na ginawa. i suggest you do the same para you have evidence and theu cannot deny the existence of the noise. kasi minsan biglang nawawala pag nasa casa na or pag andun ka na or kapag test drive na ng technician. at least di ka na nila macocontest if you have a proof. ako naman ngayon ang reklamo ko is my squeaking sound sa power window pag tumataas sya at nasa sya or umuulan. it needs grease lang siguro.
    by the way i drive 2014 forester 2.0i L

    Nung bago rin forester ko may mga naririnig rinig din akong ingay from time to time, pero ngayon after 2.5months and 1700km nawala naman na..

    These cars have thousands of parts all trying to know each other...obserbahan niyo muna, antayin niyo lumapat lahat ng piyesa..report niyo lang kung anong nariring rinig niyo then pag dating ng first check up tingnan niyo kung andiyan pa...

    For the mean time, relax... Im sure Subaru engineers and designers gave you a solid product.

    ...wishful thinking...

    For sure car manufacturers through the CAMPI will be lobbying against it.

    ...let's just hope our dimwit congress will come to their senses[/QUOTE]

    Medyo matagal pa implementation nito assuming ma approve ni PNoy dahil kailangan pa into ng implementing rules and regulations.

    Thanks to all, I will bring the car back to CASA in fort for the last time this week and see what they have to say. I've been monitoring the 'spring' sound and it always happens at exactly hitting 40kmh after the car has been turned off or has been stopped for a long time. It happens at my first 40kmh when I turn on the engine in the morning, and the first 40kmh when I leave the office. That's why I noticed it only comes out once or twice a day, depending if traffic in makati allows me to even reach 40kmh without stepping on the breaks.
    Anyway, it seems like I'm the only one experiencing this. I will just drive the car with them so they can hear it. Besides this, the noise inside the car, sounds like a lot of things inside is loose, and very squeaky breaks is still my problem. Another friend of mine just bought an XV last week and she's complaining of noise inside and squeaky breaks as well. I love the car but I'm very disappointed at the same time....

    After this last visit, I will take the advise to try out Gh service instead.

    If anyone hears anything about the developments in anti-Lemon law, please let me know. I will consider that if they still cannot fix my issues.
