i would not be surprised if many countries already have theirs, not because of people travel, but because their local virus is mutating predictably.

yes the virus can evolve independently in different geographical areas and would have almost the same mutations

like the UK variant and the South African variant have similar mutations (501Y) and some differences

there may be a PH variant we just don't know it
