    kaya yes or no lang
nasa etiketa po ang test sensitivity.
yung papel napaka-hirap basahin at kung minsan ay tinatapon lang.
you can be satisfied with just the color change, or you can read the etiketa and find out at what concentration the color change occurs.

    similar with pcr.
you can just go to the bottom line positive or negative,
or you can inquire what the cut-off value was, for that particular test.
yes. inquire. because not all pcr result papers handed to the patient, come with it.

the line must be of a contrasting color, if it is to be read comfortably and with confidence, against the (white) background.
different manufacturers might use different colors.

    you refer to a line.
i see a color change that creates the line.
    same thing. agree?

    uulitin ko po

hindi kulay ang interpretation sa Rapid Antigen Test

hindi kung light pink o pink o light red o red

it's either there's a line or no line

    C = control

    T = test

    again,
you see a line in the Rapid Antigen Test. this is what the manufacturer designed for you to see, as evidence of a positive or reactive result.
i see a color change (from white to red and various intensities in between) that is arranged in such a manner that it created the line you saw above.

the reagents responsible for that line or color change, are strategically imbedded in the white background material.
we both see the same thing, except that we each give it a different level of understanding.
i see a color change in the imbedded reagents.
you see a line generated by the strategic positioning of the reagents that did the change in color.

the scenario in your diagrams, is from textbook-positive tests, wherein all observers agree that the line is there.
one only wishes that all test lines left little to the imagination.
in real life, however, the intensity of the line can be anywhere in an un-stepped spectrum, depending on the amount of test molecules present. issues arise when that amount approximates the test kit's minimum sensitivity.

the laboratory is full of examples of interpretation issues, because of borderline levels of test molecules.

difficulties in determing whether the line is there or not, arise when the test sample is "borderline".
some manufacturers have attempted to minimize guesswork, by resorting to machines doing the "interpretation".
there may have been an improvement, but the current situation is still not perfect.

Moderna addressed the worried concerned of this thread as they claimed it can be stored in a refrigerator for 30 days.

... will probably be a while before them vaccines become available in our local market.

that should give time for some more evaluation using a much larger population...

... as tested over a span of how many months only?

but how will all these vaccines be, over a span of, let's say, 5 years?

Doc, we all know naman Moderna's vaccine and other SARSCOV2 vaccines were rushed

from concept to animal testing to human testing to stage 3 clinical trials in less than a year

NOBODY knows the vaccines' effect in 5 years (the pandemic is only 1 year old)

there's no data yet on how long those vaccines will protect people

there's no data yet on long term side effects

malalaman yan after mass vaccination (after approval by gov't regulators)

oobserbahan yan ng mga pharma for many years

    i believe that's called stage 4

China's propaganda machines are pushing the Italian timeline now to insist the wuhan virus didn't come from them.

Why Moderna may have an edge in the vaccine race: refrigeration

Perhaps the biggest bombshell was a separate announcement saying that Moderna’s vaccine can be stored at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius (36 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit) for 30 days. That’s the temperature found in a normal refrigerator or in a cooler filled with ice. This feature may give Moderna an edge because it makes mass distribution less challenging in rural areas and low-income countries.

The reason Moderna’s vaccine is more durable in regular refrigeration because its scientists have figured out how to keep it more stable. That was accomplished by mastering a strategic formula of lipid nanoparticles—the structural backbone of the vaccine that doubles as a mode of transporting the drug into human cells, says Aliasger K. Salem, chair of pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Iowa. While the details of Moderna’s science are proprietary, Salem says the company’s COVID-19 vaccine likely builds on its previous work using lipid nanoparticles in immunizations for other infectious diseases, such as respiratory syncytial virus.
