China signs deal and will be supplying Biontech aka Pfizer vaccine for Macau and Hong Kong

Shanghai Fosun Pharma, Sinopharm Group sign deal to supply BioNTech coronavirus vaccine candidate | Reuters

BioNTech announced last month a potential deal with Fosun Pharma to supply 10 million doses of their candidate to Hong Kong and Macau.

The two Chinese firms will work together to set up a cold chain system to store and distribute the vaccine, Fosun Pharma said in a press release.

and because Pfizer/Biontech's mRNA vaccine needs special handling and shipping...

kung ang bansa mo walang "cold chain system" that vaccine isn't applicable in your country

    ahem Philippines ahem

(nag usap na daw ng gobyerno natin and Pfizer... yeah... ok... good luck)

Wearing a mask decreases the amount of inhaled virus, and even if you get infected, there is a bigger chance that the infection will be asymptomatic or mild. This is one path to increasing population immunity while awaiting a vaccine. There are still many uncertainties on this, but this is yet ONE MORE REASON to wear a mask.
Facial Masking for Covid-19 — Potential for “Variolation” as We Await a Vaccine

In a pandemic with sustained community transmission and a positive case in a home, the most IMPORTANT interventions are ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD QUARANTINE and CONTACT TRACING. Removal of the infected person from the household can help, but is less effective than ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD QUARANTINE since all persons in the entire household are considered close contacts by definition. There is still utility in taking the infected person out for close medical observation, especially if they are in the vulnerable population or there are household contacts who are vulnerable but the most important addition is that an ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD with a positive case needs to locked down and removing the case is not enough. Testing the entire household can be done, but regardless of result they are all close contacts and should be quarantined for 14 days.

The same paper shows that “mass testing” of 5% of the population every WEEK decreases transmission by only 2%. In the Philippines, this would be at the cost of at least P10,000,000,000 (10 BILLION pesos) PER WEEK assuming you could ever get to a testing capacity of 5,000,000 tests/week.

In contrast, household quarantine plus extensive contact tracing decreases transmission by up to 64%. This shows us where we should put the bulk of our efforts and resources in. The article does NOT say not to test – proper targeted and enhanced testing is important to count cases and facilitate contact tracing– but random untargeted mass testing has a MINIMAL effect on the pandemic. I hope this puts the issue of random mass testing to rest once and for all. See attached figure.
Effectiveness of isolation, testing, contact tracing, and physical distancing on reducing transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in different settings: a mathematical modelling study

Face masks could be giving people Covid-19 immunity, researchers suggest

Mask wearing might also be reducing the severity of the virus and ensuring that a greater proportion of new infections are asymptomatic
It comes as increasing evidence suggests that the amount of virus someone is exposed to at the start of infection - the “infectious dose” - may determine the severity of their illness. Indeed, a large study published in the Lancet last month found that “viral load at diagnosis” was an “independent predictor of mortality” in hospital patients.
So a small dose of the virus because of the mask maybe too small to cause symptoms but still enough to cause an immune response. Result is asymptomatic and immunity. If this is true with other virus and bacteria I might wear a mask even after this pandemic.

Good conclusion considering the aor quality nowadays in the metro ain't exactly refreshing most of the time.

Buti nga nabawasan due to lockdown and reduced persons roaming around.

More PUV's would be the ideal solution for transportation issue not reducing physical distancing. I also don't get this ruling of the IATF that is contrary to WHO and/or other health standards.

Madami na jeeps dito sa amin, but not like before na haba ng pila sa mga terminals nila.

I don't know what's the criteria for jeepneys to be allowed to ply their routes again. Or hindi lang talaga namamasada yung iba because of poor ridership?

ang bumibiyahe sa area ko (del monte, araneta ave, quezon ave) ganitong klaseng PUV

either the jeepneys are still not allowed or talo sila sa biyahe coz of limited number of passengers
