rich people think they're fine coz they got money in the bank

they can afford to stay home for years

well that is if THE BANKS remain alive

ngayon palang banks are setting aside tons of money for loan loss provision

coz clients won't be paying their car loans, housing loans, business loans etc

extend this lockdown more there will be no more banks

Madami kaya mag default sa mga bank loans? What will happen to loan interest rates, tataas or bababa?

I don't think the government can afford to extend the lockdown. Actually the government can by borrowing more money, kung may magpapautang pa. At marami na sa mga Pinoy na no work no pay ang hindi na makahanap ng pagkain sa araw araw. And let's admit it hindi kaya at kulang ang mga relief goods ng gobyerno.

Ok na sa akin ang GCQ after May 15. Limit the commercial shops to necessary items, wag muna yung mga luxury and entertainment, lalo na kung kumpulan ng tao like theme parks and arcades. Also promote work from home sa mga business like BPO. Also make wearing mask mandatory.

based on Bangko Sentral interest rates to banks malaki ang binaba

so banks should pass the lower rates to borrowers

Bangko Sentral slashes interest rates further to buoy economy | ABS-CBN News

MANILA -- The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas said Thursday it cut the benchmark interest rate by 50 basis points, the latest in a raft of policy actions to keep the economy afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was the second 50-basis point reduction in the overnight borrowing rate in as many months. The rate used by banks to price their loans now stands at 2.75 percent.

"Each of the rate cuts this year were designed to make borrowing money cheaper, to ensure the public and private sector will have no problem financing the fight to contain COVID-19, as well as all other basic needs during the health crisis," the BSP said in a statement.
4% yan at the beginning of the year

    re defaults

everyone with bills to pay cannot pay or doesn't want to pay muna

like rent, phone bills, utility bills, credit card, auto loan, housing loan, business loan etc

    damay damay yan

for example if tenants cannot pay rent, the landlord cannot pay the bank where he borrowed money to construct the building

companies that will not receive payment for products/services consumed during the lockdown may not pay for things that cash flow was meant for...

May 1 ba back to work na? I thought sa May 16 pa.
GCQ areas without mass testing and low positive cases will start letting more people out, in reality, mostly of the population of course kasi hindi naman namomonitor talaga ang mga APOR.

Pero full salary? What shadow is proposing and I agree is just like the private sector na skeletal din at no work no pay, same sa private sector.

For me since alam naman ng gov't based on recommendations of scientist and health experts na magtatagal talaga itong crisia till May, April should have been used to give ample support sa poorest of the poor, yung mga wala takaga trabaho.

Middle class and higher tier income earners sa Pinas pwede namang hindi ipriority kasi may savings naman. Sabihan nang magstock ng food and maintenance meds for 2 weeks para walang dahilan para lumabas.

Then 2 weeks hard lockdown talaga as in walang labasan na sa May 1-15 unless medical emergency and the like. At least we really rule out local transmission kasinang daming asymptomatic e. Dami pa din nagkakahawaan this April so the ECQ is not working good enough imho.

Salaries were paid, minus the other allowances like laundry and hazard pay (except for those that punched in during the lockdown). There are offices snd agencies that still ran 24/7 even during the lockdown: PNP/AFP, hospitals, PAGASA, PHIVOLCS, OCD, etc.

    lockdown until there's a vaccine?
Sorry uls, I am referring to the govt who is betting on herd immunity when allowing people to the frontline even without a clear plan on how to flatten the curve. Of course I favor the lifting of ECQ soon along with a proper procedure on how to control human traffic. Not through harassment but by continuously educating the public and enforcing personal hygiene. Spend the budget on mass testing and providing appropriate PPEs to those who need it, not on propaganda and corruption in the guise of disorganized cash transfer programs. This pandemic affects the rich and the poor, no exceptions.

No questions abiut those that are essential like those mentioned.

But those offices like SSS, Philhealth, GSIS, PPA, CAAP etc that could work with a skeletal force should now make it a now work no pay policy or at least reduced salary so that the government can also save some as they indeed spent a lot for this pandemic.

DBM has issued a memorandum asking for budgets to be slashed and certain projects to be cancelled by 10% (we voluntarily slashed ours by 30%, mostly R&D). We are now officially on austerity mode (those who remember the early 2000s, pre-PNoy should be familiar what that entailed).

Its difficult to say what is essential and what is not. Philhealth? At a time of a medical emergency is not essential? GSIS/SSS? When everyone is asking for financial relief? CAAP and PPA? Airports and ports still need to be manned.

when banks see more loans turn bad they will become stricter

banks will charge high risk borrowers higher interest rate

    or not lend at all

even if BSP offers banks cheap money, if there are not many creditworthy borrowers they may not lend a lot

even if BSP lowered RRR (reserve requirement) -- lower RRR allows banks to lend out more money

problem is when there aren't a lot of high quality borrowers di masyado magpapautang ang mga bangko

may limit ang power ng central bank
