DBM has issued a memorandum asking for budgets to be slashed and certain projects to be cancelled by 10% (we voluntarily slashed ours by 30%, mostly R&D). We are now officially on austerity mode (those who remember the early 2000s, pre-PNoy should be familiar what that entailed).

Its difficult to say what is essential and what is not. Philhealth? At a time of a medical emergency is not essential? GSIS/SSS? When everyone is asking for financial relief? CAAP and PPA? Airports and ports still need to be manned.

Good then for DBM and the admin for soing it already.

Skeletal, even for CAAP and PPA etc. with reduced work. I didn't say shutdown.

when banks see more loans turn bad they will become stricter

banks will charge high risk borrowers higher interest rate

or not lend at all

even if BSP offers banks cheap money, if there are not many creditworthy borrowers they may not lend a lot

even if BSP lowered RRR (reserve requirement) -- lower RRR allows banks to lend out more money

problem is when there aren't a lot of high quality borrowers di masyado magpapautang ang mga bangko

may limit ang power ng central bank

Kahit naman zero rate yung ipapautang ng BSP uunahin parin ng mga banko yung large corporations at sa huli yung mga MSMEs.
Kaya kung ako sa BSP, sa mga govt banks ibigay yung relief funds at i-utos na puro MSMEs lang ang i cater.
Beside sa remittances , MSMEs ang isa sa backbone ng Philippine economy.

Marami ang mag default sa bank loans, sa auto loans nalang, daming OFW na nawalan ng trabaho, mga grab drivers na walang kita, daming default yan, hindi uubra grace period lang. After ecq , hindi na parehas ang business climate a day before mag lockdown.

For me since alam naman ng gov't based on recommendations of scientist and health experts na magtatagal talaga itong crisia till May, April should have been used to give ample support sa poorest of the poor, yung mga wala takaga trabaho.

Middle class and higher tier income earners sa Pinas pwede namang hindi ipriority kasi may savings naman. Sabihan nang magstock ng food and maintenance meds for 2 weeks para walang dahilan para lumabas.

Then 2 weeks hard lockdown talaga as in walang labasan na sa May 1-15 unless medical emergency and the like. At least we really rule out local transmission kasinang daming asymptomatic e. Dami pa din nagkakahawaan this April so the ECQ is not working good enough imho.

That or sobrang spread na talaga ng virus even before the lockdown. It might somehow helped on preventing the virus to spread a lot faster.

Nagkaalaman lang nung nag increase na yung testings natin daily. Those asymptomatic and with mild symptoms only na natetest na ngayon ay positive pala that's why hindi bumababa yung cases consistent lang.

Sabi nga the more you do test the more you'll find those asymptomatic na positive. Though we don't know din kung ilang yung hindi naman na test na naka recover na.

I think the the most advance statistic to look on how bad the situation is or how spread the virus is already is thru the number of deaths and how crowded our hospitals are already. In your face yan hindi mo matatago. So far we're not as badly hit as other western countries.
