Covid-19: Infections with no symptoms raise concerns across states - india news - Hindustan Times

Roughly two-thirds of all Covid-19 cases in 10 major states comprise people who did not show any symptoms at the time of testing, according to state government data that reinforced growing evidence that “silent spreaders” were possibly unknowingly infecting others, and underlined the need for extensive testing to isolate such patients.

An analysis by HT found that 65% of MaharashtraÂ’s 3,648 cases and 75% of Uttar PradeshÂ’s 974 cases did not show symptoms at the time of testing.

In Assam, 82% of 34 cases were of people with no symptoms “They didn’t show any of the typical symptoms associated with the disease during treatment,” health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday.

In Delhi, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday that all 186 people diagnosed with Covid-19 the previous day had exhibited no symptoms of illness.

since you're asking about percentage of asymptomatics

there's data from other places too

here's the one from the US aircraft carrier na nagkaroon ng coronavirus

Coronavirus clue? Most cases aboard U.S. aircraft carrier are symptom-free - Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Sweeping testing of the entire crew of the coronavirus-stricken U.S. aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt may have revealed a clue about the pandemic: The majority of the positive cases so far are among sailors who are asymptomatic, officials say.

The Navy’s testing of the entire 4,800-member crew of the aircraft carrier - which is about 94% complete - was an extraordinary move in a headline-grabbing case that has already led to the firing of the carrier’s captain and the resignation of the Navy’s top civilian official.

Roughly 60 percent of the over 600 sailors who tested positive so far have not shown symptoms of COVID-19, the potentially lethal respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, the Navy says. The service did not speculate about how many might later develop symptoms or remain asymptomatic.

this one from the famous cruise ship

Diamond Princess: Nearly half of cruise ship passengers and crew who had coronavirus were asymptomatic when tested, CDC report says - CNN

Nearly half of the Diamond Princess cruise ship passengers and crew who tested positive for the novel coronavirus were asymptomatic at the time they were tested, according to a new report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Of the 712 passengers and crew members of the ship who tested positive for coronavirus, 331 -- or 46.5% -- were asymptomatic at the time of testing, the CDC said.

40 RITM employees test positive for COVID-19 | ABS-CBN News

Most of the employees who tested positive are also asymptomatic and are staying under quarantine in the RITM dormitory.

"Karamihan nga po walang symptoms, nandito lang sa dorms namin naka-quarantine," Carlos said.

(Most of the cases do not show symptoms, they are under quarantine in our dorms.)

Those who exhibited symptoms have to undergo repeat tests, while those who are asymptomatic would just have to complete the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

"'Yung symptomatic may repeat test, yung asymptomatic, tinatapos lang yung 14-day quarantine," Carlos said.

so now, we know why the other countries have a low fatality rate, and why we have a high fatality rate.
they tested even the asymptomatics, while we tested those who have symptoms already.

    that's what i've been saying

the more you test you're gonna detect a lot of asymptomatics

your case fatality rate will fall

you'll also realize how widespread the virus really is

    i suspect,
it's been with us even before it exploded last december...
now... if we look back and examine the last 12 months of pulmonary-related fatalities...

I wonder if places like HK and China are really virus free. how many are the silent spreaders in the population even though those coming out with symptoms are in the single digits.

Mr Trump, a Republican, appeared to endorse protests against strict lockdown measures, which are needed to curb the spread of the virus. He said on Friday that orders in place in Minnesota, Michigan and Virginia were "too tough".

Washington Governor Jay Inslee called the president's support of the protesters "dangerous", tantamount to encouraging "insubordination" to state laws.

"To have an American president encourage people to violate the law, I can't remember any time in my time in America we have seen such a thing," he said on ABC news on Sunday.
