hindi ko lang sure, pero may nabasa akong nakatest tube daw yung samples ng test fro COVID19. Baka for other purpose/test yung swabbing as alternative muna habang wala pang kits.

Ang problema din daw ay dahil sa lockdown hindi na maipadala from the provinces sa manila iyong mga swab samples for testing and confirmation.

Masyado ata binigyan ni digong ng responsibility ang mga lgu na hindi naman equipped for this situation.

they need a machine to amplify the virus coz it's so small

then they match it with the publicly available genome of corona to see if it's a match

The Korea test is automated kaya mabilis ang result pero ung sa RITM they do it manually yata

ung swab ilalagay sa test tube

meron solution or re-agent or whatever they call it inside the test tube --- that releases the cells from the swab

then the PCR machine yan ang pinaka importante

kaya hindi basta basta nagagawa ng hospital ang test na yan coz wala sila PCR machine

and you need people who know how to read the results

ok i thought NCOV test kits works like a pregnancy test, results will be in just seconds, yun pala takes weeks bago lumabas results

"specimen collection kit" yung swab kit. they are just giant cotton buds. nothing high-tech about them. even a pagawaan ng posporo can make them.
they are swabbed onto the patient's nasopharyngeal lining (back of the nose wall), and are sent to the laboratory for testing.

the "test kit" that one reads about in the media, refers to the reagent or "bala" that the laboratory testing machine needs, to make it work. basically, the test kit is a piece of the virus molecular make-up that is unique to it. the sample from the patient is compared to this test kit's. if there is a match, "patient is covid-19 positive".
we should remember, that four months ago, no such test kit existed on the planet. i am amazed, they can come up with it in world-commercial quantities in so short a time.

the "test kit" can be configured to detect many other infectious diseases. in fact, it has been in use for many years already. covid 19 is just one of its new uses.

    and no.
they are nothing like the user-friendly pregnancy test kits that are easily available from the neighborhood pharmacy.

Why doesn't the government allow the private sector to import the test kits directly, rather than go through the bureacratic red tape the PH is best known for?

yup and it's not like rapid HIV test where the test detects antibodies to the virus instead of the virus itself

pag detecting antibodies lang you don't need a PCR machine

Anyone else noticed he seems to be MIA a lot. After his speech announcing a CQ last Friday night for Manila he was gone, only to show up again on Monday night. Then he shows up again Thursday night. Now he's gone again.

Ang flu shots ba dito sa atin. Talagang kung anong prediction nila na magkakaroon na klase ng flu virus dito sa Pilipinas? Ganun yun diba?

Or kung ano ma-imporf natin then hinde naman pala applicable dito.

    meron Mons

thing is, even if you have the test kit, you need to send the samples to someone who has a machine + people who know how to read the results
