    Description

"China in Focus" is a Youtube channel created by NTD to provide viewers with fast, compelling, first-hand news from China.

NTD is a New York-based, global television network founded in 2001.

We remain free from all external influence—whether from political, financial, or special interests, and cover stories that others don’t. NTD is part of Epoch Media Group.

    who is Epoch Media Group?

    sila ung Epoch Times

The Epoch Times is a multi-language newspaper founded in 2000 by John Tang and a group of Chinese Americans associated with the Falun Gong spiritual movement. Though the newspaper is known for general interest topics with a focus on news about China and its human rights issues, it has become known for its support of U.S. President Donald Trump and favorable coverage of far-right politicians in Europe; a 2019 report showed it to be the second-largest funder of pro-Trump Facebook advertising after the Trump campaign. The newspaper is part of the Epoch Media Group, which also operates New Tang Dynasty Television (NTD).

As if COVID infection wasn't as wide spread in other in other countries. Sa PH alone, halos everyone has at least got sick once of COVID. China achieve that in 3 months while other countries took 3 years... hehehe

Also yung bagsak ng economy nila ngayon while many counties saw the same thing in the previous three years.

During those three years, China was busy churning out PPEs, face mask, face shields and antigen test kits...

Japan's tourism industry are waiting for the big spending Chinese tourist to comeback to save their industry... Bale wala mga ibang tourist from other countries... puro penny pinchers. hehehe

With the end of ‘zero-COVID,’ when will Chinese tourists return to Japan for the Lunar New Year? | The Japan Times

As China battles its worst wave of the pandemic, Japan has imposed border restrictions for travelers from mainland China and Macao, limiting inbound flights to four airports and requiring a negative PCR test for entry. The move has prompted criticism from Beijing for being “discriminatory.” Other countries have put similar restrictions on arrivals from China amid fears that new variants could emerge from the country.

Those obstacles are bad news for Japan’s beleaguered retail and tourism industries — which have been hit hard since the pandemic began, in part by the lack of Chinese tourists.

In 2019, the last full year before the pandemic, 9.59 million Chinese visitors came to Japan, accounting for 30% of the total of overseas visitors, according to data from the Japan National Tourism Organization. Chinese tourists were also big spenders, accounting for about 35% of the ¥4.8 trillion that was spent by foreign visitors that year, with their legendary spending sprees in previous years earning the moniker bakugai — or "explosive shopping."

Jalil Hooshmand, manager of the Akky II Tax Free Shop in Tokyo’s Akihabara district, recalls how Chinese tourists would be bussed directly to the area to buy electronic goods as part of their group tours.

But Beijing’s continuing ban on package tours means the store has low expectations of a large surge in Chinese customers over the Lunar New Year period.

“Just based on what we see on TV, Chinese people will need to take a PCR test before they come into Japan, so I don’t know how many people are going to come,” Hooshmand said.

It may still be some time until tourist hot spots like Asakusa can expect a return of visitors at pre-pandemic levels, with experts predicting that mass Chinese tourism to Japan will likely remain off the table until Beijing lifts its ban on package holidays and Tokyo eases border restrictions on Chinese travelers.

“I think that it will be next year at the earliest when we see a return to pre-coronavirus levels of Chinese tourism to Japan, as it will take the Chinese government some time to lift the ban on group travel,” Toriumi said.

“The Japanese government's border measures, on the other hand, could be lifted as early as February to April, meaning that a possible recovery to about 50% of pre-pandemic levels could take place from summer to autumn of this year.”
