well,
if we look up the definition of "pandemic",
it can be argued that it has, indeed, ceased.

it's optional, except in situations that might warrant ease of infection.

masking does have its non-covid applications... which, i suspect, is why some folks still masque...
one does not need to put on full make-up...
one does not need to shave always...
one need not hurry one's dental appointment...
