I remember a visit to Thailand. We ate in what looked like a squatter area type carinderia beside a tourist-attraction river.
I was surprised to see a Japanese family eating because it really looked like a dirty place to eat similar to many in the Philippines. But they ordered a hot soup probably to minimize exposure to harmful microorganisms.
USA health officials are really serious this time -- they are not treating the situation with kid gloves anymore. No more politicking like what the WHO is doing.

Maybe SCMP wanted a "shock" value to the headline? Something that will "grab" the reader/viewer who most of the time, don't care, or don't have the time, to read or watch the whole article/video.![]()

Oh by the way, if they did not mention the job description, don't you think readers would conclude the journalist / news outlet is "hiding" or "protecting" something? So I say, it's good they mentioned the job description. It's just part of their job to mention it. It's being responsible, IMO.
