Remember the flood in Thailand last Oct-Nov 2011? This flood has affected the suppliers of Toyota Thailand, which in turn has affected the production of Toyota Thailand (where these Fortuners are sourced from by TMPI).
Sometimes they don't it right also. Last Oct-Nov 2011, TMPI had an oversupply of 2012 Fort gas so the dealers were giving 40K discounts.

March 13th, 2012 12:36 AM #494*james0024, Toyota is hesitant in bringing its vnt engines here (besides the 3.0) because of the dirty diesel sold by majority of stations, at least that's what they said. As for the performance, don't be fooled by paper specs. It's more than capable of climbing up steep inclines loaded as it's geared for low-end torque. For city driving, the gearing of the Fort is pretty well-balanced making you feel that it isn't lacking at all. Some have mentioned though that it doesn't have that oomph beyond the century mark but you wouldn't want to be driving over that limit anyway with the high center of gravity.

March 13th, 2012 04:58 PM #496The 2.7 vvti gets around 6-7 km/l for city driving while the 2.5 diesel averages at around 8-9 km/l, factor in the P10 difference between diesel and gas, you'll easily break even at around 25,000km (only factoring in unit price and fuel cost). Of course the maintenance of the gas is cheaper but if you plan on using the car for the long term, the d4d is truly more economical. The engine stalling and choking were resolved long ago so there's no need to worry about this reliability issue anymore.

im in mindanao ozamis city so no traffic here usually highway driving lang. and in a year nasa 6-8km ko lang napapatakbo sasakyan ko
and yes im planning to keep the car for long time (if ever kukuha ako nang fort) so now im considering the maintenance cost. kung nasa 6-7km/l FC nang vvti engines well di narin siguro masama considering low maintenance cost. ano po ba mga usually problems nang vvti engine sir?

Change oil and filter lang, good to go ka na. May added bonus pa na walang pila yung gasolina ng Fortuner.
