Toyota Fortuner 2007 model owner here.. pinamana sakin ng parents ko. LOVIN THIS SUV!

Guys, for those owner ng new 2.5G VNT Fort...napansin ko kse na parang me tumutunog i.e small crackling sound or ticking sound nangggaling dun sa solenoid ng VNT kapag naka ON ang ignition. Wondering lang kung normal ba yun? I've double checked and it is really coming from that black cylindrical shape sa may VNT ng turbo. used a sthetoscope lol..Is this normal kaya?
good buy po ba yung Gas Variant? Meron na kasi kaming 09 Montero at 08 Sta Fe. Ayaw na namin ng Diesel. Every 5k ba pms ng gas variant ng Fortuner or pwede 10k?
I believe SOP every PMS every 5K. If using mineral oil, its oil change + oil filter change every 5K. If fully synthetic, you still need to change the filter at 5K and oil top up. Completely change oil and filter again at 10K. Anyway this is what the casa does, if you want to maintain warranty in the first three years.
finally, after contemplating for almost a year and upon seeing the latest Fort...we're finalizing our decision to buy...
but a few questions lang po; what's really the advantages and dis-advantages over the other.
1. A/T vs MT, been driving M/T since i learn how to and the last time i was stuck in a traffic sa EDSA eh sumakit tuhod ko, hehe.
2. Gas vs Diesel, consider driving outside city limits.
3. 4X4 vs 2X4, does it really count?
thanks po!
M/T vs. A/T - if you are used to M/T then go for it. The A/T is only advantageous in the long metro traffics. As of now, M/T is 5 speed while A/T is 4 speed.
Gas vs. DSL - BTW, M/T is only available in diesel. Gas is available only in A/T. DSL has more torque (accelerates faster from stand still). Gas has better top speed at highways. DSL M/T is thrifty with fuel.
4x4 vs. RWD. - If go to places with paved roads with on level plain, then there is no point for 4x4.
another gas variant user here... 2006 model.. still running pretty perfect.. hassle-free maintenance.. i almost sold it in favour of a newly released diesel variant, but after doing some computations, pareho lang amount ng gagastusin ko in 10yrs of ownership.. mostly highway around my area, kaya pabor sakin ang fuel consumption.. doing 10km/L pag chill-chill lang, 8km/L naman pag hataw... pag nasa metro manila naman ako, 6.5 to 7 km/L..

Btw, will there be price increase with the launching of Up-Spec?
you mean the gas variant 2.7 vvti will also have 5 AT? toyota thai does not have 5AT for gas variant AFAIK. thinking of getting the gas version within the month. do you guys think there is a very noticeable advantage over the 4 AT in terms of acceleration? how about interior design upgrades or the rear disc brakes?
that's a relief, thanks retz. saw this article also but it was the 3.0 diesel. even with the upgraded engine there was not much difference in acceleration. not sure though if same lang sa vvti. i just want fast acceleration if ever i need it during overtaking even on an uphill.

Fast acceleration? Get a Sorento or Sta Fe CRDi
Or for the Fortuner, you can get a Racechip upgrade for it.
