18-70 yung lens, the kit lens for D70 ...
thanks for the tip ... it will be a long while though before i set foot on KL again![]()
thanks ... if ever, it will be my first poster-sized print ... i'm still tinkering with different upressing procedures and post-processing the usual stuff
*************
and if i may ask you guys, where in manila is the best bang-for-buck for printing poster size? lintek kasi maningil yung kodak outlet dito sa lugar namin, P2.25/sq.in.![]()
share ko lang.... auto enhance thru PictureProject (under expose kasi yung original) tsaka re-size (no cropping)

This should be enough to convince you not to risk the couple's wedding experience
*Kalinaw: It's normal for the 18-200VR to creep, it doesn't have a zoom lock.
*Kinyo: I use Digiprint (www.digiprint.com.ph), great prints, great service. I just had a 10x15 and 12x18 printed from them and they came out great... The metallic paper used for one of my prints was just breathtaking. They deliver to your doorstep at no extra cost too.

just wait till you've got faster lenses (and heavier i might add)... you might not last long if your kit lens is already heavy... hehehe
MPower,
Nope, maybe i picked some noise * ISO800. I know its not a good idea to set high ISO under daylight, it was mistake.
and more moolah to burn for the lens (i believe prime is best suited for your indoor photog), speedlight & tripod
Wifey played Santa last Dec with D50 & i bought the January issue. As a noob the context is too much for me, i shifted to search engine to understand more about digital photog and maybe buy some issues of popular photography in the future.
I uwed my friend's 12-24mm f4 lens. Nakakasakit ng ulo grabe!!!! The extreme wide angle gave weird distortions on the image and it's bordering on fisheye na...
But it's fantastic for panoramic shots... Just don't take a shot of a friend close up....![]()
OT wala lang napangiti lang ako sa last two posts... hehehe!! i just had to share...
Guys, need your opinion.
Went to hidalgo with my friend yesterday and was about to buy a canon 400D. When we were there, my friend continued to sway me to go nikon, so we also inquired on the nikon D40 and D40X. Sama mo na rin ang D80. Yung 400D and D40X are the same 10MP category. But pricewise, there is almost a 4K difference, D40X was quoted at 32,800, while the 400D was at 36K. But my friend was trying to influence me by saying that I really don't need a 10MP DSLR for my needs, which is just as a hobby, nothing serious (though I am a photo enthusiast), therefore, the D40 with its 6MP will suffice. The D40 in Hidalgo goes for 25K, though someone outside of hidalgo was offering a D40 for 23K with 2GB card, but only 3 month warranty. For my friend, the P9K difference between the D40 and the D40X can buy me extra accessories already, plus issues of 10MP eating up your memory card space FAST. The D80 was only around 55K.
To add to the confusion, I am a canon slr user, though my old lens can't be used as these were during my AE-1 up to T70 days. I also have an EOS88 with standard kit lens, but a speedlite 380EX that can be used on the 400D. Thus, if I get the 400D, I don't need to buy a separate flash, while with Nikon, I will be forced to get a separate flash as I am not satisfied with the built in flash of these cameras. To confuse it further, my Kodak and Pentax P&S cameras all use SD cards, thus, I already have several of these. The Nikon uses SD cards, but the 400D doesn't.
In terms of feel, the d40 and D40x feels more comfortable than the 400D, the shutter button of the 400D is closer to the grip, which makes your pointer finger more curved inwards, while the D40 and d40x button position is more relaxed.
The cameras' kits come with the following lens: D40/40X = 18-55mm, 400D, 18-35?, D80 = 18-135mm. The d80's lens is much better than the others, but is it worth the price difference?
Given all of the above, which should I seriously consider: D40, D40X, or the 400D?
Obviously, I went home from Hidalgo's empty handed, with the cash still in my pocket, and more confused than when I went there in the first place.

No, the direct competitor to the 400D is the D80. If the D40 is the same price as the 400D, you want the 400D hands down. Ideally, you want the D80, but the cost of the D80 is usually a bit more than the 400D (about $200).
If you do opt for the Canon, however, I recommend you skip the kit lens and buy either an 3rd party alternative, or something more suited to your needs. The 18-55 isn't a bad lens, per se, but there are many much better options out there, especially if you already know what kind of photography you're going to be doing.
I've heard from several people raving about the D80. I got hold of a D80 and it feels good. But have decided to prioritize my choice between the 400D, D40 and the D40X as I want the smaller and lighter body frame. The kit lens, I agree, and upgrade will surely follow as I dont have an existing canon lens that is fully compatible with the 400D. My existing lens may work, but manual, not auto focus. Maybe the existing lens from my EOS88 will work with the 400D, but its still standard lens. The speedlite will work on the 400D, and will save me 11K at least, which is the cost of a nikon speedlite 400, which I think is comparable to my canon 380EX flash. But the memory cards will have to be new if I go 400D, while the SD cards that I already have can be used if I go nikon D40 or D40X.
Price wise: d40 with 2gb card = P23K, d40X without card = 32,800, 400D without card = 36K.
Should the shutter button position play a big/bigger basis in this? I also heard some durability issues on the 400D?
Wow. Are these used prices? If not, they're really cheap.
I personally would go with the 400D, then. The feature set and image quality of the 400D is way above that of the D40/D40x.
what mount is being used by your eos88 is it EF? if it isn't then you can't use it on the 400d. also i'm not too sure if your flash would work with the 400d either.
i used to use Canon DSLR's but switched to Nikon. now let me ask you this, do you want to take pictures and not worry about editing (in Raw for white balance, color tone, etc)? or you don't mind and you're willing to go through it?
Nope, not used. Brand new, but gray market units. They don't carry a typical philippine warranty of nikon or canon, but inhouse warranty. These shops claim that if there are any warranty claims, they send these back to the distributor/importer, who I suspect will send it back to the country of origin where the warranty is applicable.
To compare, the gray market 400D is P36K, while a local 400D with a local philippine canon warranty goes for 44K.
EOS 88 uses an EF lens. My speedlite is 380EX, which according to the store, the EX line is compatible with the 400D.
I don't want to worry much about editing, though I also don't mind doing some editing. Another friend who I talked to before I got home and who has the D70 says he used to set it at raw for editing purposes, but now uses jpeg because of a certain software (I forgot the name) he is using that can now edit jpeg pics already.
Go for the 400D since you have already gears compatible with it...
but for its price the nikon D40/D40x really made damage to the entry level DSLR....
get the feel for the cam.. i did... when i was at hidalgo dalawang cam din pinagpipilian ko...i choose what's comfortable and what's easy to use... even for my wife...
