I still dont think I'll be printing 3ft prints 20 years from now. Quite a few pros here uses a 6MP DSLR for BILLBOARD shots, if i reach the point where I'll need a billboard for my son (he'll be 23 by then), only then will I feel "sorry" for myself for not having a higher res sensor.

Kinyo: Started printing religiously again the past month, really miss the "physical" nature of a print, iba padin talaga if you have the print...

I recommend Digiprint (digiprint.com.ph), you can just send them the files online and pati payment via LBC nadin, they ship the photos to you for free (as long as your total purchase exceeds P150 ata or something).

Had several metallic prints done and they were really sweet.

The same has been said of 3MP cameras, back in the day. Mainly because billboards are viewed from a distance, pixel count is not as of great importance as are noise levels and optics quality.

Maybe you won't regret the larger pixel count, but I know for sure I've never regretted going for the more powerful option.

When I decided on the d40, in effect shifting for the first time to nikon after growing up with canon (ae-1, ae-1 program, T70, eos88), it was really for the now, and not for tomorrow. With the way dslr and photography as a whole is evolving, and it is developing at around 2MP per year, its not far fetched to say that soon, the dslrs we see now will be old, with new ones coming out every 6 months or less. Imagine, the d40X came out just 4 months after the d40 was launched.

20 years from now? We may be talking 4D interactive holograms, just like those in the movie Total Recall, and this movie is 10 years old. Hmm, wouldn't mind having one of those, where the girl appears in front of you, interacts with you, complete with sensation!

I got to buy a Nikkor 18-200VR two fridays ago sa Hidalgo and brought it with me sa Baguio

I paired it with my Nikon D40. ok ang lens na'to. i'm quite pasmado when it comes to taking pics, pero useful ang VR niya.

plus a larger aperture at higher focal length, sarap gamitin.

well recommended ko ang lens na ito, and hindi naman gano kabigatan and hindi ganun kahaba.

you'll never use your kit lens again hehehe
Hey, got a D40 kit yesterday. How much did you get the Nikkor 18-200VR and from which store in Hidalgo?

Just bought my first DSLR a week ago. Had to go for the Canon 400D/Rebel Xti kit with 18-55 lens over the D80 mainly because of the price difference.Plus I only had to add a few bucks to get the extra 75-300 mm lens.
Online reviews where in favor of the D80, but for me no regrets since Im just a beginner. Bought a new cam bag, new tripod, and a 4GB CF card. Question is, whats next?
Im sure a new model will be coming out soon because of the big price drop on the 400D but as for now Im totally enjoying this new found hobby of mine.
Another silly question is, aside from using printers, are there kiosks diyan sa atin so we can choose and print pics by ourselves or do we just bring the memory cards or pic cds to our neighborhood photo labs and let them do all the work. Sorry folks I havent been home for a while.

I'm sure the Canon 450D will be out by next April 2008 or earlier.

most photo shops are now capable of printing digital files stored in cd-r. Some shops have card readers that can accomodate the most kind of flash memory.
