Unfortunately, most of the filipinos cannot appreciate this fact unless the situation can be rationalized in terms of food on the table anf bills in the pocket. Too many protests on the street denouncing the US imperialism and colonization and yet here we are virtually taken hostage with made in China loans and illegal occupation of our waters.

Government of cowards who are only good at bullying women (delima, robredo, sereno, morales, raissa, PAB, etc.). The 16M should admit that their president doesnt have the balls.

Had a talk with my friend who's working in government now but isn't a Duterte puppet.

Basically, all this rhetoric about "they" or "the 16M bobotantes" that we all love to malign, all that divisiveness is their exact objective.

Case in point, Mocha's recent "stupidity" with Mayon being in Naga. That was planted. They were in a meeting before the summit in India when that was filmed. It was planted specifically to irk "delawans" and to serve as smokescreen away from bigger national concerns (i.e. EJK, smuggling, China).

It was a deliberate error. And everyone feasted on it. Suddenly everyone's so smug that they're so much "smarter" than Mocha - calling her names, making fun of her, and so on. Of course, this fosters even greater animosity between her ka-DDS and the so-called intellectuals who mocked her. It feeds on a primal instinct of "us vs. them".

Even if it was an erroneous statement, her supporters will stand by her just because
she represents their side. So you now have retorts of "wala na ba kayong ibang magawa sa oras niyo kundi mampuna" (because they can't refute that Mayon is not in Naga but of course they'll find a way to counter).

They're also feeding on "social media activism" - people who say their mind on social media and think that it actually makes a difference. It doesn't. Unless your social media rant is taken up by someone with real influence, it stays as nothing but a rant.

The people behind the Mocha Machinery are very smart people and they've gotten a lot of delawans exactly where they wanted - hook, line, and sinker.

Bottomline - if you don't wanna be played by the propagandists, filter out the noise and see through the smoke and mirrors. They want divisiveness, don't give them that. They want petty social media bashing, don't give them that.

At the end of the day, the only way to get this government out of power is to vote someone else in. But even that supposedly inviolable tenet of democracy is being threatened by charter change disuised in the form of federalism but is really just a way for people in power to stay in power. So that's what we need to stay vigilant about.

And even if democracy is upheld and elections push through - you need numbers to make a difference. Alienating a big chunk of the population by calling them Dutertards will not sway them away from supporting the admin. Showing them that you're both on the same side (the side of the well-being of the country and its future generations) will yield better results. That means being open to seeing things from their perspective and showing them the error in their ways without hurting their pride and making them defensive. Easier said than done, but definitely more effective than calling them idiots.

the yellow side think they have a monopoly on brains

"stupid" being the most popular descriptive word against the admin

which only reinforces the view that yellows are condescending elitists

Definitely agree - these guys are geniuses with the way they're able to use social media to shape the rhetoric and sway the perceptions of people.

Past all the smoke and mirrors, the reality is that we have a government that's far less tolerant of dissenting opinion, a lapdog congress, and an environment where speaking out against the government will mean that the attack dogs are unleashed on you. The current admin's got a chokehold on the seat of power.

That's still a divisive mindset - classifying people into yellows or dutertards as if it was really that binary. It's far less glamorous to be unitary than divisive, but if you want people with different opinions to even consider your side, you have to be able to empathize.

There are condescending people, regardless of color association. Both "sides" also have their elites, just different sets.

Just saying.

Style dutard to and the best way to deal with this is to ignore.

They will start qouting themselves if you ignore them enough.

But Jut, there's no secrets in politics. If that is the case.

Somebody's pulling the strings and pinapaikot lang sila.

And you have to hand it to the admin, they're far more effective at manipulating the social media sphere than the opposition, with fake news and all.

Usual opposition criticism I've been seeing these past weeks is against cha-cha which is an important thing to rally against, given that it will unleash the floodgates to unchecked power.

the delawans always refer to the 16m idiots

    ok yan

there are very intelligent and very wealthy people supporting du30 who are under the radar giving advice or directly working in the admin

    keep it that way
