I've given up on caring about the welfare of this country as a whole. Instead of being alarmed with the disintegration of our moral fiber and our democracy, people are embracing every little step with open arms.

Extended martial law, targeted attacks against all forms of opposition (senate, judiciary, now press) - and yet everyone celebrates. Subjugation by China, drug lords protected, poor nonchalantly killed, poor disproportionately taxed - noone bats an eye, everyone celebrates because they blindly follow.

A personal pet peeve - decency, intellectualism, and democracy are suddenly things that are mocked. Transitively - brashness and authoritarianism are the new cool traits to have.

Personally, nothing much will change in my life regardless if the country goes down to the dogs. So kanya kanya nalang diba. Good luck to the poor and underprivileged - ginusto niyo yan. Welcome to the new world order.

hardhitting and borderless ang reach that's why they're hard to contain

i've heard maria ressa speak and john mangun and the wig
syndicate (harry roque and aguirre) talk about those PDRs. it's going to be a legal battle royale. but even before a case is filed against rappler, it's almost a given ressa will eventually end up behind bars

Yes, through grants or donation. As long as Rappler declares it as such and that there are no hidden agenda on the part of ON.

and for the first time in metro manila history, bumagsak ang bilang ng nagpaputok at sunog sa new years eve.... imagine ilan dekada na engot ng pinas dahil taon-taon na putol ang kamay at sunog bahay/estabishment dahil sa walang kwentang tradition....

How you certain you are? Bobo kami ikaw matalino?

Your last sentence sounds just like Shadow. We can adjust although i am quite disturbed at where we are going on the political front and how we are so close to losing a lot to China. Protect your own ship first, then let's see where else we can help.

My thought would be: is decency mocked by a few loud but well placed ones? Look at social media today, a lot of trolls singing the same stupid tune and I have a strong inkling that those who legitimately supported P-Diggy have buyers remorse and have shut up. I've met one businessperson over the weekend who voted P-Diggy and man i could see the disappointment and concern during the course of our conversation (but they did support VP Robredo fully).

Pasensiya na bro, perhaps I'm beginning to get cynical about the whole thing. With all the political maneuvering that's going on, many people are still strongly cheering from the sidelines (the recent SWS survey is an indication that the majority are still ultimately enamored by the populist rather than alarmed by where we're going).

And while I understand that many influential people aren't exactly happy with the leadership, they dare not rock the boat lest they risk getting their businesses persecuted. As most successful businessmen are, they will just maneuver through the rocks and bends like a meandering river instead of fighting against the current. It's not something I take against them, it's just a reality.

Noone is batting an eye despite all the political set-up that's ongoing. Only when it becomes a checkmate will people cry foul, but by then it will be too late for those who can't help themselves.

The Niemoller quote seems to be ringing more loudly than ever for our local context.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Hope springs eternal. Fun fact: Ph male life expectancy is 65. To the people enjoying this golden age I ask you this: where will you be when the music stops?

I made mistakes. You made mistakes. We all made mistakes.

Pero if i were given a chance to choose who my parents will be, i'd choose them a hundred times over.

Pero sa pagpili ng presidente, that's a decision we consciously make and we should be held accountable.

Kaya tama sabi ni jut, decency and intellectualism are suddenly mocked because of people like you. You don't engage in intellectual discussion, instead you resort to insults and attack the person's character. Sounds familiar noh? Parang presidente mo.

I don't see your cynical thoughts as wrong. There are battles to fight but you choose them wisely; timing is always the element. Position yourself properly first then, as you aptly mentioned, navigate the rocks. Bilog ang bola, bilog ang mundo.

Bro sadly in this thread, both side, pro and anti, acts the same.
Back read the pages, you will see the regulars, who hates DU30, also resort to mocking and name-calling.
If I didn’t know better, I would have thought the posts dished out were from the so-called DDS.
